Long-term piggy fosters needed.
Posted on behalf of Boblets who will need a long-term piggy foster (or fosters) for approximately 2 years.
She wanted to stress that she is not 'getting rid of her animals willy-nilly' - she was told to have two of her buns fostered but has managed to keep them, but on the understanding that she have her piggies fostered instead. She is very sad to see them go and will need regular updates on how they are doing, preferably with photos etc to keep her updated
She has three indoor cages (perspex): two medium and one large and can buy a hutch depending on the foster piggy-parent's preference.
Her message follows:
Bumble
Douglas
Dougal
Zander
Arthur
Boris
Elvis

In the next month I am looking for foster homes for my guinea pigs
There are 7 of them and they can go as that or be split down a little bit. I currently have them in a 5 and a 2; Bumble and Douglas being the pair (Bumble cannot live alone and doesn't get on with a few of the pigs (Dougal, Arthur and Zander) but loves Boris. Douglas gets on with all of them!).
My piggies are much loved but due to space issues I am having to cut down for a couple of years until we find a new human home. They are quite easy to handle pigs and do spend a good amount of time outside their homes. I have very little issues health-wise with them (touch wood) and they are quite good at using their toys to gnaw down their teeth!
Please if you could foster these lovely piggies (or even a pair) please let me know.
Bumble
Douglas
Dougal
Zander
Arthur

They are lovely thanks Jane, and they are so much fun... Just wish I had a bigger house then I wouldn't have to do this!!

Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
Is this down to a rental arrangement or because you have just moved into a smaller house?
Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
Its because its o/hs house and he wants them fostered until we buy a bigger house!

Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
Hate to say it but have you thought about rehoming instead? There is no way I'd ever agree to keep an animal for 'a few years' because I'd get way too attached & think of them as my own...that could well put people off fostering? Good luck anyway X

Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
I would not like to consider rehoming as I do love my pigs. I will explain my situation as I am worried people will be thinking I am wasting their time and being a bit doolaly!!
So me and my o/h live together in his flat, I do of course contribute but it is a small flat for two people and 4 bunnies and 7 piggies.... I was then informed it is making him sad all the smell and the mess and the fact he can hardly move for standing on cages and doesn't want to bring his friends round. It is his first home and he bought it while we were together and then asked me to move in which we are happy with. Sadly he asked me to rehome/foster 2 of my bunnies and some piggies last week which of course broke my heart. I then talked to him some more (after the screaming episodes ) and we talked and talked and I managed to talk him into fostering the piggies and none of the bunnies. This is still a heart rendering decision for me, but I am looking on the bright side in which I get to keep my Bunnies. I am trying to find them home which I can trust for the mean time. I don't want people to think I am wasting time or anything else. This is just a genuine request for help

Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
It's an awful situation to be put in but you're doing your best for them. Have you tried advertising on other rescue sites as well? The wider you spread yourself the more choice you will have on who to pick.
Hope this works out

Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
When you say you want them fostering are you meaning you are willing to pay for their up keep and any vet bills that arise as this may also help make peoples mind up whether they can help you or not. As when rescues use fosterers we tend to help with the day to day living costs and definately the vets bills.
Re: Long-term piggy fosters needed.
I would be yeah. I would not expect a free ride. But then for the right home I would let them stay there always but I would want to know where they are! I do love them, but circmstances...
