cat litter trays and buns

does anyone use a hooded cat litter tray for there buns to use as the loo. when i set up the new shed i was thinking about lavatorys for there ladyships, they do like to use the tray that they currently have it is a big flat potting on tray but they seem to miss when they wee so i thought i would try a hooded cat tray, not sure if a rabbit would use one. so does anyone use one or suggest something else i could use that would stop the wee from going everywhere else. thanks tracey

I have a covered litter tray for daisy and he uses it with no problems at all. I have taken the door out though.

I put in a layer of mega-zorb with Hay on top.

That said it was very tricky to get him to use it at first. It was a slow process where i got him using the bottom half and then added the lid after a couple of weeks.

Heres what I did.

I let him use the bottom only for two weeks without adding the lid.
I only ever used the same type of litter
I made sure it was always in exactly the same place - it never moved.
When I put the lid on for the first time I made sure that there was already some wee and poo in there. He didnt use it the first time so I left it on for an hour and then took it off for the rest of the day.
I repeated this for the next few days, leaving it on there for more and more time.
Each time I made sure there was already some wee and poo in and that the tray was always in the same position.
Any wee or poo outside the tray was put into it.

It did take me about 3 weeks and a lot of patience to get him using it but it has worked a treat since. Its so much tidier and I think he likes being in there too.

my 2 pairs have covered litter trays - with wood based litter in which they all use no probs.
