Litter trays
Can I just ask what people use in their litter trays.
I use saw dust, which works well for me, but my house is starting to get a bit pongy with the warm weather. What do you guys use?
Please all tell me of your magic solutions to stinky free houses?

Re: Litter trays
I detest the way sawdust gets all over the house so all though I will use a thin layer in my outdoor rabbits litter trays I prefer to use wood based cat litter pellets in the housebuns ones. They don't get stuck to their paws and dragged about the house like sawdust and if the odd pellet does stray you can pick it up easily. It's also highly absorbant too and I don't find it smells
Re: Litter trays
I use Megazorb and I've never noticed a smell - though that doesn't say a lot as I hardly have a sense of smell I like it because it clumps nicely and as Bell and T only seem to wee in one corner it's easy to get the dirty bit out without having to replace the whole lot every time.

Re: Litter trays
I use sawdust at the moment as that is all I can get out here. Previously I have used carefresh (which was good but expensive), wood based cat litter (which worked well) and megazorb (search online you'll find it anywhere. there was loads of it and i originally bought it for my rats but the buns took to it well too.)
my bunnies dont seem tomind the wood shavings at the moment but maybe when I get round to properly litter training I will find just one shop here that sells non-clumping cat litter.... *sigh*

Re: Litter trays
I use woodshavings and change it as soon as it starts to smell
Megazorb is more absorbent. (if you want to try it click the link in my siggy, my mum stocks it)
AND theres this other thing that's apparently more absorbent than megazorb, but I can't remember what and I haven't tested it yet. I'll try and remember the name. (My mum'll stock that as soon as she can get it ordered in)

Re: Litter trays
Wood based Cat Litter works great for me on all the Buns and the Hamsters in our house. It's cut down the smell with the hamster so much as they live in kids rooms. More plesent walking into rooms now.

Re: Litter trays
I used to use a non treated paper based cat litter as I have a bun that is sensitive to wood shavings. Now they just have shredded newspaper
