Hopping Mad! - a new tunnel to HH's cyber warren :)
Hello Hoppers
As I'm sure some of you may have guessed, there has been things afoot in the last few weeks. Thanks to all of you who've responded to requests for photos, answers to questions etc etc.
Following the awful story of the PACT bunnies ( clicky ) we were really amazed and impressed at how Twitter and FB were used as effective tools to create a movement - in this case, fund raising and highlighting the plight of these poor buns. The RWAF and MMC have both used this story to demand better standards for rabbits that are bred for the pet store supply.
We got to thinking that if we joined up on Twitter, we could use that to highlight campaigns on the forum, as well as occasionally Tweet forum topics that could be of interest to other bunny people. This in turn led to the idea of producing an on-line magazine, primarily to consolidate all the campaigns, welfare news and bunny news from around the world. Most organisations seem to work independently, and we couldn't find a site that linked them all up, (although I'm sure there will be one somewhere!). We also wanted to start a new project, a global rabbit welfare resource. This is still very much in its infancy, but we're hoping to get rescues, welfare organisations, and ethical suppliers on board. As the project develops, so will it's design and web-friendliness. At the mo, it's a bit amateurish, but it's an on-going thing.
This idea then grew into providing that service, plus our own features and articles to accompany it. So, we're delighted to announce 'Hopping Mad!' bunny magazine
We aim to produce a new edition every 3-4 months, always free, and on-line. We have had to keep this under wraps, but now we hope that you, as members, will become involved in the magazine's production.
There's been so many people have helped us, and we'd like to give special thanks to Anne McBride and John Chitty, both of whom have gone beyond the call of voluntary duty
Thanks also to the members who have been testing the site for us, to members such as SJ, who have advised us along the way, and those that have given permission to use pics etc. and to the admin team who've been burrowing away, getting contacts etc for marketing and research purposes.
This is a new thing for us, it's not going to be without teething problems, and potential webhost issues etc, but we'd like it to be the best it can be, so we welcome any feedback that may help its design, content, accessibility, navigation etc in the future.
Now, go and get Hopping Mad!
