Fingers crossed for JEFF!

Jeff has lived alone for a long time now as his original gf started to beat him up and my attempts and getting him with saphie and zack has failed. Both girls (saphie/zack) are now neutered and the hormones have gone. Today I have 5 of them playing in the garden, jeff always loves everyone regardless. Zack however is a bit special.

She was taken in skin and bone, bullied by her siblings, had very bad wobbly legs and was only just able to hop. She was given to me so she could have a chance and now shes fine apart from moderate hip displacia and being a third of the size she should. Smaller than a nethie and shes a lop. She was slow to develop balance, slow to grow and very bad at understanding social actions from other rabbits. In a nutshell shes a bit autistic. She will stomp up to another rabbits face like "HI!!" and just doesnt see the part where the other rabbit tells her off and instead completely invades their space right next to them or in their face, sometimes even sitting on them.

Today with the 5 of them she pushed her luck and a couple of them decided to bring her down a peg or two, Supervised I let them do it and an hour later she submitted to nugget for the first time ever and is now behaving well in her pen with jeff too. Jeff always liked saphie but after a scuffle with one of the others jeff decided its his job to hug them and wash them head to toe. Lets just prey zack remembers her lesson! I was aiming for a group of 5 but a trio and pair will be fine too.

I really hope this works out for them, I would love to hear that Jeff has some friends to be with all the time.

You know how I have a MASSIVE soft spot for him.

I put jeff in the title because I knew you would look lol. I made sure they ate together and then watched them secretly through the shed window for a bit and all seems good. Poor saphie has needed hugs as nougat bit her and shes a bit sore. Jeff has smothered it better though haha

How are they all settling into the new sheds?

They love them, I took the hutches away because they were just toileting in them and gave them big plastic dog beds filled with hay and straw, in the cold winter I can flip them up into a hidey hole. I am still re arranging things to get them just right but they seem happy. Jeff saphie and zack are on one side of one shed with a puppy pen as a barrier to nougat and taffie so they are still able to wash each other and sit together regularly. The group have the other to theselves. I will worry much less in the bad weather cause I felt terrible when they didnt get out their hutches for much excercise but they have planty space if they cant now.

He is happily integrated into the group. Zack has been put to the bottom of the pecking order which is what she needs.

This morning jeff and saphie were cuddled in next to each other, zack toddled off, found some hay and brought it back and chewed it infront of them. Saphie decided to take it out her mouth and give the other end to jeff so they could share it leaving zack to go find some more haha

Aww. I'm so glad it's working out and that no one is on their own any more. Really lovely x

I think Saphie has been in need of some "adult" company haha
