I have a plantain Addict...

OMG! brought him some plantain with his last hay order and he just cant get enough of the stuff.

He's not normally the slightest bit bothered by food either......but this!

Tried him on some wild stuff from Jay last year and he liked it but not as much as he does now. There was even excitement when I went to his food box just now....and that never happens!

Im now thinking of ways to use this to my advantage.... hee hee

I need to get some wild stuff really but I guess its to early???

The short plantain is out already, but not very big yet, will probably need a couple more weeks, I did get some from the Common the other day.
The Big plantain isn't out yet though.

It's good for their tummies too New Blackberry shoots are coming out too, Yay!

Im jsut starting to run out of the pear leaves I dried him in the autumn, he has really enjoyed those too.

Im not sure I even know what the plantain looks like.....Durrrr,

Of course you know what will happen, ill go off and do the hunter gatherer bit and he'll decide that he's had enough of that and decide he wants bloomin dandilion again!!!

you can buy the seeds, so if he likes it a lot you could always think of growing him some in a plant pot so he can have some fresh.

All of it You can find plantain in any field or scubland, it's a weed really, and grows anywhere.

I do miss my feral old garden when I see threads like this, that had all the weeds you could ever want growing in it.

You can dry it in your airing cupboard - not that I have, funnily mine is literally filled with sheets.

Mine can take it or leave it, but then they are strange rabbits.

My airing cupboard was full of plainatain and dandelions for a month last year - the sheets and towels were damp, but hey, he's worth it - isn't he?
