Rhia Update 5th Aug :(

Rhias been such a poorly bunny these past few weeks Its shocking how fast this has happened really, and the hot weather has worsened it tons. We're at the vets on Wednesday, Just hope we get some promising news because shes so happy & full of life when she can be - I guess though that its a blessing that she isn't feeling poorly X

We are 110% positive its her heart, it has to be. Its constantly racing & her body looks like when a dog is panting, but all the time. Shes such a mess, shes spending her time just lay flaked out in a heap. Its sad as she used to be so full of energy & a total head case. Still as cheeky as ever though :luv:

I think the heat having such an awful effect would relate to her heart too, it is so energy sapping. My Bobby is flaked flat out on the floor most of the time these last few days...that is inbetween abusing his wife

Hope you get some good news on Weds.

Its horrible to see her heart racing, I just want to scoop her up & love her better - but moving her just makes it worse. Its nasty, I think she just feels tired rather than unwell, but for such a crazy bunny, thats probably quite horrible for her. Thankfully Daniel isnt an active boy, and is quite happy to spend his days sat by her X

Am thinking of you too, it must be so distressing to see Rhia struggling in the heat. Good luck at the vets, I so hope treatment is available if they can diagnose the cause.

Girly has been to the vets & she thinks the same as us, that its her heart. We have a referal for an Ecg & Scan etc so I'm pleased with the outcome, but just wishing this nightmare could be resolved asap for her. Bee was stressed as hell (as per), and Daniel fell straight to sleep on the table

I know I've said it before but would the vet not consider treatment for heart problems as a diagnosis tool? Save her the stress of more tests and gets her treated sooner if you're both sure it's heart-related

Am pleased you have got the referral you wanted/needed. How soon will Rhia be seen, will you have to travel far for the ECG? Poor Rhia - especially if she is so easily stressed. Hopefully though you can get a diagnosis and treatment.

Hmm I dont know RF, My vet admits shes never ever diagnosed a heart prob in a rabbit before & I think she just wants to leave it to the experts - Which Im happy enough with. Vanessa, I'm not entirely sure yet, my vets going to phone the place after her consults finish then get back to me. I didnt get the impression that it'll be a long wait though. It will probably take about an hour (thats a guess!) to get to the place, which will be a nightmare with her - but there really doesnt seem to be another option. Shes a brave strong girl & we'll get there eventually X

I just personally think if she's so sure (you said 110% sure earlier in the thread) that it's something to seriously consider, especially if it's a 2 hour trip for the tests with a poorly bun (especially if it stays hot)
Not having a go or anything, it's just meds are used as a diagnosis tool a lot in the rat fancy for heart problems and I think it's the better option than more travelling and tests and stressing Rhia out

All opinions welcome If my vet doesnt feel confident treating her though, I (and obviously she..) feels its better to leave it to the people who know what theyre doing X
