Insurance - PAH

I didn't know P@H did insurance that's very good and worth knowing not for me with my gang but if anyone ask's me

This is certainly all food for thought, my two are insured with pet plan and cost me £12.50 a month each, it doesnt cover dentals though they told me that they review each case and if they were to develop a long term problem with their teeth they would review it? hmm! One thing I did wonder abut is that they didnt ask me whether or not i intended on having them speyed when they were big enough, surely as this decreases the risk of uterine cancer it should be taken into consideration? I am wondering now if i should switch - the excess on mine is £60 and this is a cover for life policy. My vet told me there is a bunny he treats who has had £8000 worth of treatment for malocluded teeth and pet plan have payed the lot

I have found petplan really good back when I had my doggies and when daisy hurt his toe (yes I know - only daisy right?) the payment was made withing a couple of days.

Petplan was brilliant with Peanuts abscess , i couldnt recommend them anymore, and if i had just one bunny i would keep petplan definately

Well, I've cancelled Artie's insurance

I received a credit agreement through the post this morning for the insurance and today was the last day for opting out of the insurance and there was no way on this earth I was getting tied up to a credit agreement for £87! There's terms in there such as if I miss I payment they will charge £20, I don't intend to miss any payments but I'm not signing a finance agreement *shudders*.

I can however pay in full so I'm giving myself a while to think about it and will probably pay up front. I'm thinking over whether to to annual or life (based on what the thoughts of the 'very wise, yet so young' SJ.

One of the main reasons for me to choose lifetime would be being covered against stasis episodes - I missed that boat a long time ago with Artie so I might just choose annual this time.

When I rang them to cancel they put me on hold for 6 minutes while playing 'Arrival of the Queen of Sheba', I didn't have time to wait for her so hung up

I recieved mine today too, and had the same thoughts. I dont know what to do because I cant afford three insurances in full

I've had bad experiences with credit/loads agreements in the past and I won't touch them with a barge pole, though it's an easier decision for me with just 1 and not 3 to insure.

The second page says something like full loan amount £1,500 I suppose that's seen as a possibility for year on year cover at £7.xx a month. But I'm just not signing up to that.

I'm got to use my little brain all over again to think it through

Have just seen this thread, and in your first post Sarah Jane, you said PetPlan didn't cover dental. But when I spoke to them on Saturday they assured me three times no less, that they did cover all dental.
Have I been mis-lead with this? As this is the only reason I went with PetPlan, and considering Penelope has had some very expensive dental work in the last two days, I am hoping they actually do cover dental

Anybody else with PetPlan who can confirm if they do or do not cover dentals??

I haven't experience of claiming for dentals but I've seen discussions (not sure if here or elsewhere) that suggest they pay out if the dental work was done as an emergency, pretty much I guess if it was life threatening, they've often said they paid it as as 'good will gesture but don't normally pay for dental work'. They state in their T&C that they don't cover for routine incisor burring etc but if the work that was done wasn't routine stuff I think you are in with a good chance. EDIT TO ADD: I've just had a look at your thread and as she was not eating as a result of needing dental work and it was an emergency it sounds very similar to the scenarios I've heard them paying out for before - I'd be surprised if they don't pay out.

Its worth remembering that calls are recorded so if you can remember the date and time of your calls you can prove to them that this is what you were advised if there are any problems.

When I insured Daisy it was after he had dental problems so they told me that dentals wouldnt be covered "because he already had a dental" which lead me to believe that he would have been to start with.

I think its a very grey area, but if they said it is covered then you should be fine! sometimes they dont cover burring, but i dont know as i have never had a dental with them.

I dont know what to do, they havent ever been insured but now i feel scared to cancel it, because if something happens .... i dont know. maybe i will look into exotics direct to see about their cover.

Thats £20 a month for all three. Maybe i would rather do that than be tied into something. plus it is £2000. and if i am going to do it i should do it soon as my oldest is 5.

Yeah, I remember it all, as it was the day I actually got her insurance so wrote down all the info and everything. I remember asking three times if they covered dental and each time she said yes.

She did ask me if she had, had any detal problems previously which she hadn't, so am thinking she should be covered for this time and then I think I need to check for anything following.

So hope she's covered *crosses fingers*

What they told me, and what it says on the policy documents, is that they dont cover routine burring, but they evaluate it case by case - I asked 'what is mine end up with molacluded teeth as you cant tell at this age if they will have it' and they repeated the 'evaluate case by case' line.

I would be hopefull that they would cover a life threatening or serious case

I've just been looking at the Terms and Conditions of P@H again to decide if I want Annual or Lifetime insurance and I didn't realise before that the cover on Annual is £1000 PER CONDITION whereas Lifetime is £1500 PER YEAR. Annual is actually 12 months from the start of the condition so I wouldn't be running the risk of them developing a condition 50 weeks into the contact year and not getting any cover for it after 2 weeks. It really is good cover for what I want.

I've decided the Annual cover is for me but I'll have to have a look in the piggy bank as I want to pay all in one go!

I just wanted to spread the good news about how good this insurance is.

Sadly, Artie developed kidney stones a couple of months after I took out the insurance and I ran up a big bill and put in a claim. The claim was a tricky one as Artie had pre-existing problems with bladder sludge so the insurance company questioned whether kidney stones was a related condition. FHB believed not, as there had been no evidence of such over the last 2.5 years of him having his pre-existing bladder condition and there's loads of x-rays from the last 2.5 years showing Artie's kidneys were healthy.

Anyhow, this morning I got a cheque for the full amount (minus excess of course). I had believed best case scenario was that they would pay what it would have cost for Art to have his kidney removed rather than the more expensive surgery to remove kidney stones, but they have paid for it anyway.

Sarah Jane - I can't thank you enough for highlighting this insurance - in doing so you have just saved me about £1000 (as I'm now putting in a claim for the kidney removed as they have paid the first bit).
