Hello from Australia.
Hey guys,
I've been browsing through this forum for the last few days and thought I would join.. everyone seems really lovely and helpful.
I have a six month old bunny named Harley. He's a rescue bun from the RSPCA (where I work). His owner surrendered him along with a LOT of other bunnies when Harley was just five weeks old. He had a severely broken hind leg, which the vets operated on when he was only 6 weeks old. It healed perfectly, and you would never know he had any problems with it. He originally came to stay with me while he put on weight and his leg healed (he was also severely emaciated) but of course I wasn't able to give him back!
He lives inside, and loves the couch. He also loves my dog, Jack, and they get along like the best of friends.
Being just six months old, Harley is full of mischief (and chewing power!) but has a wonderful personality. He is working hard to overcome his fear of strangers, and is slowly making progress. I look forward to learning from all of you, and to picking your brains for advice as Harley grows.
Also, this is something I found very odd (and extremely terrifying when it first happened as I didn't know what it was!) Harley is prone to getting the hiccups. I have read this can often happen in buns who are weaned too young, which he was.
This is Harley after his second round of leg surgery..
And Harley now.. on the couch..

Re: Hello from Australia.
Wow what a totally chilled bun.
Welcome to HH Jodie and Harley. We already have a member who lives in Australia, her username is NSD and she has two buns as well. I'm sure she will pop up soon.
This is a very friendly forum and we all love to help with advice and information if we are able or just to support our members when times are tough. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Jodie, and welcome to HH nice of you to join! Well done on being a failed fosterer - you're in good company, glad that Harley recovered so well
Re: Hello from Australia.
What a gorgeous looking rabbit! One of my broke her leg at 12 weeks and had to have it pinned during surgery. Five years on and you would never know there had ever been a problem, it healed wonderfully.
Welcome to HH!

Re: Hello from Australia.
Thanks guys!
Yeah I don't know what I was thinking - fostering.. pffft! I knew straight away I would be keeping him.
I live in Melbourne in Australia. I think the biggest difference to where most of you guys are, is we're not lucky enough to have the Myxo vaccine.
I'll share some more photos in the photo section a little later.

Re: Hello from Australia.
Hi and Welcome Harley is gorgeous, such a pretty bun.
I'm from Melbourne too, in the Essendon area. At least the weather is cooling down and the mozzies are starting to retreat!

Hiccing Harley
Hello there, I'm a newbie to HH but your mention of bunny-hics caught my eye. My own bun, Lil Loll (correct name Mr Laurie) was prone to the odd hiccing session when he first came to me as a "re-home from owners". He was nearly 2yrs then and the problem soon cleared up. I thought it was due to the stress of home change. And I recall my beloved chinchilla doe, Clawed, occassionally hicced after a trip to the vets.
Harley is a cracker!

Hi Woodwench and welcome to the forum
Why don't you start a thread in 'Meet and Greet' and tell us about yourself and Lil Loll and Clawed
