The chances of a spay not working?
Just for my own info is there any chance that a spay operation would not work? Or.... I don't know... be reversed? x

Re: The chances of a spay not working?
You remember Poppy? the bunny I took off my friend when she was in trouble? She stopped speaking to me shortly after that and I wondered why. Remember how I was sure she was spayed?
About two weeks ago I got into problems and have had to surrender some of my animals to a rescue, rescue phoned me today and said that poppy is pregnant. I didn't want to believe that my friend would lie to me without knowing if there's any chance she could have had complications.
So now i'm ******

But you got Poppy in February? And a rabbits gestation period is 30 days, so if you had to give her up 2 weeks ago, that doesnt make sense? x

Oh i see. that make sense now. Although I wouldnt have put an unneutered male with a female spayed or otherwise, surely he just humped her all the time?

Re: The chances of a spay not working?
Just chalk it up to experience and if you are able perhaps give the rescue a donation towards the care of the babies and explain the mistake.
In the future, I would never bond an unneutered male with a female regardless of her neuter status, and in theory if you didnt spay her/she didnt come from a rescue, you could never be 100% sure. So it probably would have been wise to have had him neutered for that reason in addition to all the other reasons. But just chalk it up to experience and help the rescue out if you can, as thats alot of costs they will have to pay for now.
xx

Obviously too well
A male is still fertile for up to 6 weeks after being neutered because all they do is cut the tubes from the testes, so anything left in the pipes is still ready for action.

He was in tact. She's the one who's meant to be sterile.
"ready for action" love it. x

Re: The chances of a spay not working?
It is a bad idea to introduce an intact male to a spayed female because even though babies are prevented (as long as you've waited the 6 weeks), the male still has the sexual urges and can make a female's life a misery.
You are much better to have both animals fixed, wait until the male is definitely infertile AND THEN try to introduce them.
Hope you are feeling fine xx

Re: The chances of a spay not working?
Last week was a disaster so I am hoping this week will be better.
Had a nightmare when I found that our toilet hadn't been properly attached to the outflow pipe and it was emptying under the floor. Just waiting for the bill now
