Clicker Training
I really want to try this with Molly and Archie, I've got a dog clicker and I tried teaching them up, which they really seemed to understand, does anyone know what else I can teach them? Can I teach them their names with it? What have you taught your rabbit to do?
Re: Clicker Training
I'd be quite interested in this too, I want to try and train Penelope not to go near the 'dangerous' parts of the house (by that I mean the boards with wires behind, she still tries to burrow under the boards to get to the 'tasty' wires ) So would clicker training work with that?
Re: Clicker Training
you can teach their names and pretty much anything you can think of, but it takes ALOT of time, very regluar training and patience.
I have a friend who taught her hamsters to "dance" for treats.
It's cute and all, but pretty hard to achieve, same with bunnies.
I thought of doing it but after thinking it through I decided not too.
I don't really like to teach my pets tricks, I prefer to just observe them and the things they do naturally.

I'm just doing it to keep them occupied, and I'm also going to use it to teach them to come back to me when they are free ranging
Re: Clicker Training

Jay is your man, he taught bertie to use an obstacle course, It was amazing. I think there may be a you tube clip????
It can certainly be done - as I understand it the click represents a treat at first which is what encorages them to do things.
Deffo speak to Jay!
I believe Stewie now brings them breakfast in bed!

Re: Clicker Training
I've decided not to let Molly and Archie free range in the garden anymore, so I don't really need to use the clicker anymore, but I might keep using it just to teach them some things, they seem to enjoy it, though Archie always finds all the treats that I'm meant to be using one at a time to teach them and he eats them all
Re: Clicker Training
It's good for their mental stimulation, so I would recommend it for any bun, indoor or out
There's a really good article on the Rabbit awareness website on how to do it, and Bertie's video is at the bottom of the page.. http://www.rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk/fun/how-to-clicker-train-your-rabbit
