RIP Old Man Chance.
This evening I have gone out to find my very old man Chance eternally asleep
Not long after I first adopted him from Sooz's rescue and he was about 8 then.
He was to be a comapnion to my special house rabbit Princess Caramel. She was devoted to him and absolutely worshipped him. She sadly passed away from stasis and Chance was alone for a while.
Then he was paired up with Ratman who was a foster bunny who came into my care and stayed.
With Ratty as a gay couple.
Eventually they were both bonded with my Giant Bella. Chance worshipped Bella, she really did it for him and he covered her in spray (despite castration) for a long time, just so everyone knew she was his.
With the buxom lady who stole his heart.
As many of you know, Chance has been ill for a long time and has stunned vets for about 2 years with his survival despite very adverse circumstances, they even called him the bionic bunny. I am just pleased that he has passed so peacefully in his sleep. He had a good brekkie this morning and was sunbathing with Bella. He has obviously passed in his sleep in the bunny shed very peacefully. I can't ask for more than that.
Thankyou for the wonderful 3 years we spent together old man. I hope I showed you the love and kindness humans can give and made you as happy as you made me and many of my bunnies.
Sleep well beautiful old man, go to Princess she will be cross that you took so long to meet her. I love you special boy. xxxxx

Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
Bella and Ratty know what has happened but they look so confused. He is laid on a garden chair under a sheet at mo and they are hopping around it. It is really quite sad and touching. I haven't seen anything like that before. Tomorrow I will lay him to rest with his beloved Princess

I have never had a bunny go peacefully and without intervention before. It is incredibly sad but as Becki has said to me, an extremely dignified and fitting end for a dignified old man
Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
I'm so sorry to read of your loss.
Pleased for Chance though that he went peacefully after a happy day.

Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
It is so strange, Ratman is normally so neurotic but has come up to me tonight and really wanted alot of fuss. Have just sat with him having a fuss and a chat about the old man. People say animals don't have emotion, I KNOW that Ratty would have asked me what has happened if he could have.
Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
Charlotte I am so sorry.
He was a wonderful amazing little miracle bunny, he wasnt about to go until he was good and ready!
Chance was always so wonderful with all the fosters and babies, like a favourite old grandad who had a thing for big women.
I think that if there are guardian angels out there, Chance is going to be one of them, looking over everybun with a wise and kindly smile.
Sleep tight gorgeous Boy x

Thank you Katie, there is so much more I could say about what an incredible bun he was. I always knew this day would come, but it still doesn't make it easy Thank god for you Hoppers, I know you understand.
Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
Im so sorry Charlotte I know how much he meant to you, but i also know how much it meant to not have to make that decision to let him go, because you would have found it so hard to do.

Oh my god, I am so so sorry Charlotte. He was an amazing guy with such personality, I loved hearing your stories of him so much.
He was such a fighter, so brave. He was very lucky to have you in his life and all of the buns he loved over the years.
Binky free Chance xx

Sleep Well, Old man. You deserved to have a kind passing after all your fighting, and that is what you got. You'll always have a special place in my heart sweet boy. Even though I am relieved for him, I am so sad that the world is without him tonight XXX

Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
What can I add to the above....Chance was a very special old gentleman, who enjoyed his retirement to the utmost. He particularly enjoyed a "full body scratch" as we used to term it, from any obliging human. Sounds as if he went quickly and peacefully, which is the perfect end to his long life. We will miss him though. XXX

Re: RIP Old Man Chance.
I am so so sad to read this I was lucky enough to have met old man Chance on several occasions, and he was a very special bun! A foster gramps to several baby buns, My Ruby roo being one of them. She lived with him for a while when she was in Charlottes care and He taught Roo everything she knows!
His peaceful passing was the best we could have wished for, I know how much you loved him and how hard it would have been to make that decision for him. He was an amazing little bun who will be very sadly missed, and who will forever remain in the hearts of many, humans and buns alike <3

What an amazing rabbit he was - bionic bunny was a good name for him, he just went on and on. I loved hearing about him too.
I am so glad that he went peacefully in his sleep. You gave him a wonderful life Charlotte and he will be back with his beloved Princess now.

I'm so sorry to hear that he has passed on to the bridge, but delighted that nature was so kind as to allow him to go with dignity and in peace. He was a lucky boy. Hope Bella and Ratty cope with his passing. xx
