Post by Felix&Willow Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:51 pm

Just wanted to recognise that there has been alot of loss over the last few wks. It makes us realise what a difficult job it can be to raise bunnys, and that even with a very clued up owner, a great vet, the right diet and care, we can lose them in often sudden and unfair circumstances.
Many rabbits endure so much on their way to loving homes (u guys have taught me), and yet often very well cared for buns can be lost suddenly, no matter how brilliantly the are cared for.

For all those that have had a loss recently, and all those nursing poorly buns, a massive hug to u all x x x

I cant stop crying - its not fair, so much loss recently, its unbearable. I wish I could scoop everyone up and squeeze and squeeze and make it all better.

I can only echo what Beki has said, and send my love.

Ill be lighting a candle for those lost and having a moment of silence for them tonight.

I think the only comfort may be that u did ur best, the buns had a fab life with u, whether for a short time or for a long time, and u each learned alot, either as a new owner, or about the individual traits or problems ur bun had.

When the pain eases, and u can give again, there is a little fluff just waiting for u, so when u feel guilty, if only i had... If only i hadnt... Just remember they are all out there just waiting for their lucky day, and boy wont they be lucky when they get picked up by one of u guys x

Thanks for this Becki, I feel ******* ****. Am in pieces.Have been to see Ruby with Jo and ryan and it is unbearable. I feel so responsible. All rabbits adopted from RSPCA have to be neutered. Why Ruby? WHY?

I too am sending more hugs to everyone and their bunnies. Life can be so cruel and sometimes you just want to give up. I lost a bunny last year after having him only 1 year, it took me a long time to come to terms with it.

I think group hug is a brilliant idea Felix and Willow and one which I wholeheartedly endorse.

Love and hugs to you all.

Charlotte, it was just a few days ago that jo posted the lovely story of Ruby so i know they were introduced through u as u were fostering her. Firstjy, what a great match, love at first sight, a fantastic home and a very happy bun, u did great! Speying, u have all taught me, is the thing good bunny mummys do, not just if its a requirement of adoption, but to prevent uterine cancer, the risks of that being higher than the risks of adverse reaction to a G.A. It would have been neglectfull had jo and ryan not taken her to be speyed, so awfull that in this case that small gamble did not pay off.
I think what it comes down to, is if Ruby were able to make an informed decision, what would she have chosen.
Feel a right p@?t telling u stuff u know far better than i, though when ur heart is hurting u need reminding. U have all fullfilled ur different roles with ruby, she was a lucky girl x

On a personal note, willow and felix are due to be speyed nxt mnth, i am under no obligation to get it done, yet i will because i owe them the chance to live a long and happy life. I will walk out the vets blubbing, and if they dont make it, or one ends up loosing the other that they have been with since birth, i will be devastated.
We can all learn from each others mistakes, but no mistakes have been made here x

I admit I am selfish, but I don't come to this section of the forum very often...almost never.
Even though I am sorry for all the poor bunnies who pass away, it is stronger than me. I cannot read their stories.
I have just finished reading about pour Louis, just before writing this message and I am still here crying like a baby.
My thoughts fly immediately to my bunnies (well all my pets and family) and my fear of losing someone close to me grows exponentially. So I'd rather avoid reading the Bridge...even though sometimes I give up and read it.

I can completely understand that. It is a sad place but when you do lose a bun, it is good to be able to write something about them as a way of saying goodbye. xx

I am the same, I can;t bear the thought of any bunny passing on. Watership Down made me cry so I wouldn;t ever watch it again and hearing of other people's grief, I feel so helpless and know exactly how they feel, so I end up crying too.

I had to have one of my guinea pigs put to sleep this monring, he was six and had a great life but I still feel sick and empty.

Hugs

Thank you so much Jay and Katy, you need your friends at time like this. I am still very sad of course, but I am pleased that his wife Katy doesn't seem to be pining. She has just eaten a hearty lunch of cauliflour.

Thank you for the invitation to put a post in the Rainbow Bridge section, I certainly will.
