Natural fly repellent
I did post this on another thread but then realised it probably won't be read by everyone!
I got it from a book which is about making your own cleaning products and things...
There's a couple....a general list of things which repell different types of insects... powdered red chilli, pepper, peppermint, bay leaves, cloves, citrus oil, lavender, rosemary, tobacco, peppercorns and cedar oil. It says you can also mix " a poison non toxic to humans mixed with a food insects find attractive, and spread in the infected area" e.g oatmeal and plaster of paris, cocoa powder and flour and borax.
The fly one isss
"Fly-away Potpourri"
230g Lavender flowers
115g rosemary
60g spearmint
60g lemonbalm
30g mint
30g pansy
30g mugwort
30g cedarwood chips
10 yellow tulips
3 tablespoons orris root
And then I guess you just put it in any room, or on top of a hutch could work! I know it's quite a big mix of things, but I expect you could probably leave some things out. Even maybe growing some of these plants near a hutch might help ^_^
I found this video too when googling about it http://www.ehow.com/video_4973461_repel-flies-naturally.html

poor Daisy!!! ha ha. Yeah that's a good idea about the fly paper . My buns are indoors so it's not too bad, but may start hanging lavender around the windows because it's so hot atm we have to have them open

I think I may try the 'Fly Away' potpourri as I like all the ingredients and Lavendar is very good to keep Flies away

Re: Natural fly repellent
I have 5 of those things growing in pots around the playhouse and run. They attract green fly and little bugs, but theres rarely and sinister flies. I wonder if thats why?
