Re: Slug Repellent
Salt or sand, or both seem to do the trick. slugs dont like gritty surfaces and salt for obvious reasons

Re: Slug Repellent
If you want to put them off rather than kill them, apparently they don't like copper

Re: Slug Repellent
You can get wool pellets and ceramic stuff both of which are supposed to work. Or I think you can buy nematodes to water on.

Gravel around plants works, as does broken up cement pieces. Apparently broken egg shells and coffee also works but I've never tried those!
With my ex business I had to overcome my phobia of slugs and snails a bit. I still hate them though!

Re: Slug Repellent
I pick the ones in the back garden up and throw them over the fence in to the field at the back but we leave the slugs and snails in the front for Henrietta hedgehog and of course the birds eat them as well

Re: Slug Repellent
Sink a can of beer into the soil with the top removed and pour some beer in it. The slugs like beer and crawl in, get p****d and drown
Get your OH to empty them though as swollen drowned slugs are absolutely disgusting. Not much turns my stomach, but drowned slugs in beer and tipping waste food down the loo (it's the plopping sound and the splash back) really make me want to dry retch
Another satisfying thing to do is to water the garden in the early evening and wait. The slugs and snails will come out, lob the snails away and cut the slugs in half with a pair of scissors. The birds will eat the chopped slugs for you and you don't have to worry about harming the birds with pellets or salty slugs.
