Hi,

Do any of your bunnies drink their wee? (Disgusting, I know) I think this may be why Thumper isn't using her litter tray. She wants to drink the wee!!! scratch

Hmm... Thanks for the replies guys. Thumper is a strange girl, haha.

I should have said in my first post, she has access to water ALL the time. I bought her a free standing water bottle that came all the way from Hong Kong, so it goes everywhere she goes!

Hopefully someone will have an idea what it's all about.

Yuk!

Luna has done it before, after she got spayed I noticed it when there was no bedding in her cage Smile

After reading hopping mad [as jay suggested] if she is doing it constantly could there be something shes not getting enough of in her diet, so is drinking urine to retrieve as much as she can?

Could just be one of those strange quirks buns seem to have Laughing

I woudn't assume its the same thing, but at the same time, it could be - it's a tricky one, but rabbits metabolise calcium in a strange way, and when I spoke to Anne about it (who also asked john C) they seemed to thnk that Calcium was the most likely candidate. However, you need to be really careful with Calcium in a rabbit's diet, as excess can lead to bladder sludge, so I wouldn't go feeding her calcium rich foods, if she's getting it from her urine, then that'e her way Smile

A strange quirk is just as plausible Laughing

We had a rabbit once that use to do that called 'Poppet' a Dutch girl and I have known of rabbits doing this before. I really have no idea at all why they do it unless they are lacking vital nutrients or something I don't think it does them any harm, maybe putting a mineral block in will help.

OMGosh! Of course! She used to get mineral critters cones but the place I got them from went into administration and I can't find them anywhere else. She does have one in her cage, the cherry one, but she doesn't really like it. (in fact, she's been known to take it out of the holder and wee on it!)

I've been nagging my other half to get on eBay and buy some but he keeps forgetting (I don't have an account)

I will get it done tonight, hopefully they'll come quick and fingers crossed the litter tray will start getting used again!

Thank you all so much for your replies Smile
