Johns not drinking??
Hi all,
I had to buy Johns a new water bottle back in November as his old one broke.
Since then I swear he hasn't been drinking water!!! It never seems to go down. It is exactly the same bottle but in yellow. It works as I've checked it and checked it but I honestly don't think he ever drinks it. I am going to mark it to see if it goes down.. if it doesn't, what could be the problem?
He is a perfectly happy and healthy buns, eats well and doesn't appear de-hydrated - could he possibly just not like the new bottle??

Re: Johns not drinking??
Hmm thats odd.
My bunnies have yellow, red, blue and clear bottles and iv never noticed the collour changing their drinking preferences :S
I would think he must be drinking coz if he hadnt drank anything since november he would be very poorly now. :s
Its a bit of a mystery, I hope someone can help soon xx

Re: Johns not drinking??
My buns go through stages of how much water they drink. I have three outdoor buns all in together and at the moment they are drinking very very little.
Does John have a lot of moist veg/fruit? If he does, it could be that he is getting sufficient water from this and doesn't need any more. If you are concerned maybe you could put dish with some water in with him so he can drink from that if he really doesn't like the bottle.

I would second Jay. Gloria doesn't really like a bottle. She has to use it when she is in the hutch if she's thirsty, but every morning she stands beside their ice cream tub waiting for fresh water. She much prefers to lap up water like a cat.

Re: Johns not drinking??
Another vote for adding the option of a bowl, a lot of rabbits dislike having to work for their water and I can't say I blame them. If I was gagging for a drink I wouldn't like to have to jab at a metal ball with my tongue for a few drops either.
Re: Johns not drinking??
fudge is a bowl type of bunny....even down to resting his front paws IN the bowl whilst drinking!!he then looks mortified at his wet paws!!!
he has looks but necessarily brains!

Daisy prefers a bowl - we had to get quite a heavy earthenware one though as he also liked to tip it over!
