Some of our Many Bridge Bunnies
I have been thinking about them all today and how much I miss them
The very first rabbits that I had were Sooty & Sweep the rabbit below is Sweep.
And this is Sooty.
Next were 2 rabbits free along with their hutches and they were called Fluffy and Sooty, so I had them as well, good job as they were alive with mites and poor Sooty had to have his front incisor teeth removed as they looked like an X they were that bad and when he went for the Op I was told he hadn't any back molar teeth at all and she wanted to put him to sleep but I grinded everything he ate or chopped it into fine pieces and I had him for about 4-5 years.
Fluffy the beautiful New Zealand White eventually was poisoned by my neighbour who was an absolute evil old lady, she threw slug pellets over when I was out and when I let Fluffy out he ate them and died. I actually had a nervous breakdown due that old woman.
I named Sooty, 'Sooty Toothless'
Sooty Toothless the Dutch boy & Fluffy.
Keegan
One of the best rabbits I have ever had he was simply wonderful, my guardian angel, there will never ever be another like him and he is the reason that Mike and I take on rescue buns today as a thank you to him.
Little Hetty
Such a petite little rabbit so dainty.
Bodkin
Hetty's Husbun and one of the biggest clowns of all our buns, Pud is a close second.
The Beautiful 'Betty Boo'
When we saw her in the rescue she was skin and bone but she turned out to be the most gorgeous fluffy bunny.
Chloe (Daddy's Girl)
Mike absolutely loved Chloe and she loved him, we had a few female rabbits that seemed to favour Mike and who all became Daddy's girls.
Poppet (Another Daddy's Girl)
Poppet was gorgeous and when we found out she had cancer we were heartbroken, she was on lots of medication and was often ill and Mike always
gave her the medication and would always cuddle her for hours after like below
Smokey
I can't really talk about Smokey without crying and Mike will not talk about her to this day as he still finds it's hard to deal with but she came from a house that didn't like her, they said she was nasty and would bite she was way down the bottom of the garden in a hutch that she had never been out of for years, she had never seen a vet or been handled....or loved. Mike heard about her from a lad he worked with and said straight away that we would take her as the owner wanted rid as she was off to Uni and she was thinking of having it put down.
When Mike went to collect her Smokey was in a cardbox box waiting for him to take her and the girls Father was smashing the hutch up, Mike found that upsetting as it was if they couldn't wait to get rid of her.
He brought her home and took her out of the pet carrier and she screamed, she was like a toast rack she was so thin and straight away I made an appointment with the vet to get her checked out that day.
To cut a long story short as Mike took her out of the pet carrier at the vets I noticed a huge open wound on her tummy and we eventually found out that she was riddled with cancer. We had her for two weeks before she died in her sleep with one of her front paws over a soft toy rabbit that Mike had bought her. Mike had endlessly sat with her trying to get food down her in the end, he went out and came home with all sorts of herbs to try and get her to eat.
He has never got over her death and we will never ever forget her.

They were all such beautiful babies. Smokey and Fluffy's stories were especially horrendous (what awful people) but so lucky they eventually found love with you.

They were all beautiful. Binky free gorgeous buns. At least they were all loved when they passed whatever they had been through before. I am sure they knew that.

Re: Some of our Many Bridge Bunnies
What an amazing thread.
Smokey's story is just so sad. I just don't know what people expect of an animal. Do they expect tricks or something!
She had a rotten life, but she knew love and kindness at the end. You couldn't save her, but you came along just in time so she didn't die a lonely death in a cold uncomfortable hutch, unwanted and uncared for. That wasn't just good timing. It was meant to be.

Re: Some of our Many Bridge Bunnies
Thank you for sharing those lovely photos, it was so touching to read. I have only ever lost one bun I cannot imagine losing so many, it just breaks my heart to think some bunnies never get love , but it makes me feel so much better when I know some are saved by people like you.
