I need help to raise my 8 precious orphans

Can anyone give me some advice. My gorgeous bunny Ginger died yesterday and has left me with eight beautiful babies who are noe 11 days old. I have taken over feeding them with kitten milk and making sure they wee and poo and it seems to be going well. But I am so scared they won't make it as everything I read says they have little chance of survival. Has anyone been successful hand feeding bunnies?

I have never hand reared baby rabbits but it's not easy, the main thing that kill's them is they are apt to suckle so fast that they can inhale milk into their lungs which can lead to pneumonia.

Thanks for the vibes, I think they are going to need it. The vet had no advice and wasn't very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll just keep searching and doing my best for the little guys, someone some where must have been successful.

There is a sticky on here somewhere about hand rearing too, really indepth, I read it yonks ago. I had my two from 3 weeks so they were a bit further along and eating some pellets and hay by that point - good luck with it xx

Hi, we raised 7 out of 9 babies when their mum died when they were 9 days old back in 2004, here is the link to my website page about what we did:

We used Cimicat milk formula, AviPro (probiotic) and Abidec (vitamin drops) on advice of our vet nurse who had successfully reared orphaned wild rabbits this way. Please let me know if you need any more information.

I am so sorry to hear this. How awful. Goats milk is often used in handrearing. I would use the advice of people whonhave successfully hand reared. Sending lots of love.

Thanks so much to everyone for the thoughts and messages. The little ones seem to be doing fine and they are steadily putting on weight. So fingers crossed.

Babies are doing really well, they are starting to nibble on some timothy hay and junior pellets. They are really growing and are full of energy hopping around their cage for a mad five minutes, they are so cute. Will try to add some photo's soon.
