Treats and fingers Empty Treats and fingers

Post by Guest Mon Aug 29, 2011 9:11 pm

Anyone have any thoughts on how to stop Bruce taking my finger off everytime he comes for a treat.

I have broken down the fenugreek treats into smaller pieces because I am trying to teach Flo to come to her name without putting weight on her. Bruce thinks that treats are for everyone everytime so he has to have one or two to keep the peace but he nips my fingers everytime. It doen not hurt, but it is rather rude. It is not just that the pieces are small because Flo has no problems taking them from me. Bruce is always really over eager and will just climb over me. If he were a dog I would understand how to train him, but Bruce will just find a way to help himself - as he just has whilst I was typing!

Ahh this sounds like Tigger. She goes absolutely nuts for fenugreek crunches it's unbelieveable! She claws up my legs, pulls at the jar I keep them in and snatches them away leaving a nip on my fingers as she does so.
Jeeves is very gentle.

Tigger is slowly learning her name but I think she is more stubborn than anything. They will both come running when the jar is shook though!

I'll be happy to hear people's suggestions as this is quite a good question. Maybe we just have very rude buns and they don't have time for us humans faffing about Laughing

Have you tried putting the treat in the palm of your hand and holding your hand out flat? Like you would if you were feeding a horse by hand. Really flat Laughing

Sorry if you end up with wounds Embarassed

I do do that sometimes but it is hard to distinguish between feeding the 2 this way. I am having limited success at the mo at getting them to respond in turn when I say their names.

Gloria was a bit of a piggy too. I used to say 'no' and then offer it again and if she snatched put it on the ground. She was just very greedy and loved food!
