Introducing a bonded pair to a single? Empty Introducing a bonded pair to a single?

Post by Kunama Tue Aug 30, 2011 8:11 pm

Hi, I was looking through my local RSPCA website and they really didn't seem to have many single females, and I they where already reserved. I have to say I think 3 is a better number than 2 just in case there is (god forbid) a death so I was wondering what the chances where of introducing one bonded pair to a singleton? My logic tells me it wouldn't work at all and the bonded pair would gang up on the single bun, but is there the slightest chance it would work, or has anybody tried?

Thanks guys Wink

The general info says it is not the best bonding experience. Where in Devon are you Kunama? Could you use animals in distress at Ipplepen or the devon animal ambulance?

And have a chat with the local rspca. When I got Flo I was originally interested in another bun who was reserved. By the time I had been home checked and went to pick Flo up the reserve had been lifted. Not everyone passes checks or there are sometimes buns in that are not ready yet.

Its not the best - but it does work in some cases. Its risky though because if it didnt work you would be left with the heart wrenching position of having to perhaps return them.

Some rescues do "bunny dating" This means that you would drop your gorgeous boy off there for a couple of days and they will bond him to the lovely lady of his choice. Hey presto - when you go back you collect two in love bunnies.......

It can be done.

There are some Hoppers who have done it who can help you to give it a try. But the crazy gang do have the most fabulous and unique relationship dont they.

When are your new arrivals arriving??

Cant wait to hear all about them.
