Homemade Noms!
The buns went mad for some hay with rose petals the other day, and scoffed the lot. So today I have started sorting out some dried yummies from the garden!
Batch one, started today consists of:
Dandelion leaves
Nettle
Apple branch leaves
Rose Petals
Its all started to dry nicely, i just keep turning it over on a tray in the garden, and its nice and crunchy!
Its in the conservatory now, and I'll make some more tomorrow.Doing it in small batches so it dries quicker!

Ooooh how lovely. I wish I had a garden Just got a back yard and with a wildie on the loose, nothing is sacred no matter how you try to protect it!
Re: Homemade Noms!
You know you can dry petals in the microwave? You dry of any excess moisture on kitchen towel then put them in the microwave for a min at a time until dry. In my microwave it takes 2mins.

I can just imagine your mum's reply if you asked her to use the microwave SJ!!
You are very lucky that you have access to so many lovely natural treats.

"Sarah Jane, not everything in this house has to be used for the rabbits" - that would be the response!

Re: Homemade Noms!
I have a garden but when i first got Flopsy i was a new bunny mum and could never remember what plant was what in my garden and was totally unsure if it was safe for buns to eat
Needless to say its now very safe, i dug all the boarders out and grassed them all
I did have clematis which was lovely so dug it up and replanted it in mums garden
My garden may be boring but least i know its safe now its just grass, dandelions and the odd weed and mushroom

Re: Homemade Noms!
They don't just like rose petals they like rose everything. My roses do not get sprayed at all so when cutting off the rampant bits i bring them in for the buns and when you look again the lush branch is a thin stick.
When I moved into this house I completely ripped out the contents of the borders and replanted with rabbit safe plants. So they are edged in lavender and filled with hebs, fuschias, penstemon, echinacia (although these never get to flower!) and I interplant, when I can, with cabbages and celery so that they have lots of options of things to graze on.

So are drying apple leaves etc different to apple leaves that have fallen from the tree and gone crispy? I read somewhere that they can foe poisoning so I guess it must be.
