Homegrown Noms Empty Homegrown Noms

Post by marleyNfriends Mon Feb 18, 2013 10:59 am

I found some unopened herb seeds that i bought months ago and havent used, ive also got some dandelion and plantain seeds left that i bought from The Hay Experts. Is there a plant food that i can buy that is safe for me to put on the herbs without harming the bunnies?

Also, last year, all of my bunny safe plants fell victim to slugs Sad Is there anything i can do to stop them without putting chemicals or pellets in with the plants?

Im going to start the herbs off now indoors, but the next time i plant some seeds, i will want to harden them and eventually repot them outside.

ETA: What about an organic fertilizer like this?

If your plants are in pots you can get copper tape to stick round the pots. This forms a barrier that the slugs can't cross. Not sure why they can't but it does work. You cab get a baby bio plant food for herbs which doesn't affect them being edible too x

If you're planting in a bed, hudad says you can use broken glass but it has to be small sharp pieces. Not ideal but it works.

Shocked

I have images of all the slugs crawling to their death! Laughing Poor slugs...i dont like them, but i dont think ill do the glass thing. I am going to take over one of Mums beds in the summer, as it doesnt get used. Ill plant some things there, but most of my herbs and things i grow in pots, things like Mint spreak like wildfire otherwise.

Mum uses Baby Bio, ill just use some of that instead, thanks! Smile I want to feed the birds too, but Dad moans that they poo all over the fences Rolling Eyes
