Just an odd question that popped into my head...why do rabbits have furry feet? scratch

is there any other animal that has furry feet? because cats dogs, Guinea pigs, all rodents all have soft skin pads or no fur on their tootsies!! why is this? anyone have any idea?

I think it is to do with keeping warm they are like humans if our feet are warm our bodies are warm and it is the same principle for rabbits.

that's a very good question haha now I'm wondering myself.. If it's true that it's for their body temperature then why don't other animals do that to? scratch

They also have a very thin skin unlike other animals so they have very thick fur to protect their feet

I know Snowshoe Hares have big fluffy feet that helps them move freely on snow so I wonder if rabbit's have furry feet because they grip better scratch

Where's Woodwench when you need her I bet she will know Smile

I wonder whether it is to do with skin protection when digging. Bruce has really hairy paws.

I don't know, but what I do know is that it makes them slip and slide all over the fire place whilst they are being little monkeys trying to walk on the marble which makes me chuckle.

I'm glad everyone else seems to not be too certain!! I thought it might be to do with protection when burrowing or for warmth, but then why don't other burrowing animals have furry feet? Like Badgers and Moles etc have bald feet still!! maybe its just for cuteness for us all to enjoy!! Love

I had a go at googling this and the most common reason was that it is padding for the rabbit's foot. Rabbits don't have fleshy pads like dogs and other animals and rely on fur to provide this to protect their feet.
