Vibes for Candice please - don't look if squeemish

Please could Candice have some vibes, her 3rd eyelid swelled up and ruptured today, she is going in for emergency surgery in the morning and we are concerned because of her age, she is a very elderly bunny

Ouch that looks nasty - do you know why it happened?

Gosh that looks awful Theo. She wouldn't have anything behind it would she, because it looks how Gloria's did. Sending vibes it is nothing serious and she is better again soon.

Yes, it's horrible and it's bleeding slightly too so I have bathed it, what did Gloria have?

It does look horrible but she is eating and running around OK, I have given her the medication as advised and she will go in tomorrow but we are worried about her age and the GA

Gloria had an abscess behind her eye. The first sign of any trouble was a slight redness, the next day when I went to take her to the vet, her whole third eye was bloodshot and swollen. I hope it isn't the same thing and just an infection.

But did it come up quickly? this seems to have happened in less than 24 hours, I really hope it's not serious

Gloria's went from complete health to eye abscess within 48 hours. I don't mean to alarm you, but it really was that quick. But it might just be an infection so please don't get upset.

Oh crikey, this has happened quickly too and I've never had a bunny with this problem before, I really hope and pray that it's not serious and that something can be done to help her, we are so worried about her but we have a brilliant vet, I keep checking her and she is still very bright

How did the surgery go? Is she ok?

Fetched Candice at around 8pm tonight, she has had the gland under her third eyelid removed, that was where the problem was and it was a real mess, thank goodness there wasn't an abcess but we need to watch it to make sure nothing else happens there, she is bright and eating and moving around OK

Thank goodness she's doing well it looked very painful and now it's probably a relief for you, but fo her too

OUCH, my friends bearded dragon had something similar looking, but his was ongoing, vet thought it was an absess, so he went under the knife to find out it wasnt, more time passed loads of meds and still no better, vet had to remove his full eye, poor thing.

Bless her heart, she seems a very brave girl.

Well, Candice is making a good recovery and her eye is so much now, looks really good, I have to take her back for the vet to check her over on Tuesday night

Thought you might like to see how well Candice is doing after the surgery on her eye, her fur is a bit wet from the water where I bathed her eye

She looks so much better hun and the stress is over for you too. You can;t relax or think about anything else when a little one is poorly, it takes over your whole life.
