neutering reducing aggression????
so Its been just over 8 weeks since twink was spayed and she is a little beep beep beep!!!!!
She destroys everything nearly kills the other females who live happily together she is the only one I cant put in with them, distroys my house, fights to get outa my hands when she would happily sit on my lap or just potter about next to me. There is just no relenting in her. She is only happy sorta when in the hutch with Jasper.
Ive Just read on the RWAF page that it reduces aggression, I think our twink may be an acception to the rule!

Maybe it's going to take Twink a little bit longer to settle, she certainly is a character isn't she

Re: neutering reducing aggression????
orrrrrr shes that all right!!! earlier when I was feeding her I opened the hutch and she jumped in the plastic food box Ive got about 8kgs in and would she come out of it, Think not! she sat munching and growling if I went to pick her up, In the end I risked it as Ive never been bit of twink took her out and put her back in the hutch while I filled the bowl which was still half full, she tried her hardest to get back in the box!
Re: neutering reducing aggression????
I thought neutering would calm down Luna...and I had Thistle for company for her...she was aggressive when he was around before he was neutered, they weren't together then they were seperate but in the same room (i think the boy smell irritated her and his prescence) but as soon as he was neutered too and they were bonded together she was a completely changed bun. Perhaps the other rabbits around her annoy her even though she isn't actually WITH them, if she fights with them in person so to speak then if she can still smell, see and hear them when she is with Jasper this may make her a bit grumpy. Just a though, I could be totally wrong..but maybe it's worth investigating by keeping her where she can't see or be near the other buns??

Re: neutering reducing aggression????
LilyGrace is right the smell of other bunnies can cause what's called referred aggression - for example if you keep two pairs side by side they might start fighting with their bun-partner because they can smell the others

Re: neutering reducing aggression????
The smell of other buns can cause aggression, but also sometimes it is just...the bunny themselves!
I mean, neutering DOES reduce aggression but some buns are just little madams, Jelly is a prime example. Now she is five years old, she will climb onto my lap for a snuggle, she will let me hold/carry her (until we get near the shed and she sees the floor!), and when its time to come in from the run she just sits there and waits, she is so good and soppy. BUT.....she has only been this way for the last 18 months, Jelly used to drive me INSANE.
She would bite at me, dig , ruin everything! She is still feisty and if any buns have done anything i know who it is, and she will still nip my bum if im sweeping hay in the shed but i think sometimes mellowness just comes with age and time - in conjunction with spaying!
