Vibes for me and Taffy please...

Humum has had some of the results of Molly's post-mortem samples. They have found Pasteurella but not yet isolated it to a particular strain. I think that was from the swabs and there might still be tissue samples being processed so maybe they will find out more. Because Molly died on a Friday night, the samples didn't get to the lab until the Tuesday after - ideally they should have been there sooner, but us rabbits never do what is most convenient for you humans.

Anyway, over the weekend my nose has got a bit snotty again, and our Taffy is also a bit snotty. He also had a slightly weepy eye yesterday, although that is clear again today. So we're into the vet tomorrow evening and going onto the injections of antibiotics every three days.

With Sunny, Rocky and Molly they were all given oral antibiotics (Baytril and Flagyl) which didn't touch it, and were slightly unwell for a fairly long time before going downhill really suddenly. Humum is hoping that if we hit it at the first symptoms, with the one thing that seemed to help Molly, we might be able to knock it back if not cure it. She's also going to keep a very close eye on our weight, as it dropped off the other three very quickly at the end and was almost impossible to keep stable once it was gone.

Taffy is a sweet little guy, who was known as 'the friendly one' as a baby as he would always approach people and be prepared for a hug. I'm special because I am the last of my litter, and Rosie needs me to keep her great big feet on the ground.

Spare my Humum a hug - she might have another long few weeks of nursing ahead of her. Don't underestimate how far a few vibes go when buns are poorly

We've been in and jabbed

Our chests sound fine, it's all in the nose and even then not a lot of it, so we're all hoping that the early treatment with this particular antibiotic might help.

Taffy had his temperature taken too - I have never seen such wide eyes on a rabbit

The vet is really pleased with my (now nice and clean and fluffy) bottom, and I have put on 100 grams in 2-and-a-bit weeks so Humum is a bit more confident that I am healthy to help fight this nasty bug off.

We're back in on Friday...

That's the last jab jabbed

The vet is quite pleased because our snot has gone back to clear from being slightly milky. She says that's a good sign.

I have a very slightly upset tum again, but the vet thinks that might just be the antibiotics so Humum just needs to keep an eye on me over the next few days.

No more poking and prodding, no jabs and no nasty oral meds for at least a few days
