Re: Little Squirrel
Aww! I love squirrels!!!
I once stayed at a lovely hotel called the craigendarroch in Ballater and they have a little red squirrel who is so friendly, if you put nuts on the balcony he would come over. The people next door left a trail of nuts to the dining table and he came right in. I fell in love with him
Off topic a bit, but just have to add that they have a duck pond too and the ducks were just ace

Re: Little Squirrel
We had a pair of partridges when we moved here back in March 2010 they came 3 times a day for their corn and then they would go and we were very fond of them. We live in a village and it's very rural but sadly as in most rural places they have shoots and we are sure they were killed as we heard a lot of shooting in the fields at the back of us one day and we never saw them again after that. I often cry when I hear them shooting because I always wonder what it is that has lost it's life.
At the other house we had a big pond in the field at the back of us with ducks and swans on they didn't do anybody any harm and on warm Summer days would sit on the side of the pond sunbathing and grooming themselves and then when we had the snow and the pond iced over the shooting party came one Sunday and one of the party was shooing the ducks with a stick as they started to fly they were shot nearly everyone of them and I was hung out the upstairs window screaming 'You ' and crying . Those ducks didn't stand a chance and the whole episode made me so ill, I think I cried for a week and couldn't sleep and I will never forget the sound of the ducks either

Re: Little Squirrel
Oh god!!! I would have been the same as you. That must have been so traumatic for you.
It infuriates me how humans think they have the right to kill what they like
Our local council are trying to action a cull of roe deer here so they can plant some poxy trees!! There is absolute outrage about it. The place they plan to do it is just round the corner from my work. Me and a girl from work plan to go and stand in the 'field' when they plan to do it.
I'd love to see them lift their guns with us standing between them and the deer

I do not personally believe only £51 has been donated. Tosh!!!

Re: Little Squirrel
how gorgeous is he!
I love how your garden is always full of animals. Its exactly what we are hoping for when we move next year.
It sickens me that people get enjoyment out of causing the death of another living creature. I think there is something so backwards about it.....like these people lack some kind of basic intelligence.

Re: Little Squirrel
Thumper2001, that is just awful. I didn't know about that. I know that Aberdeen City is totally strapped at the moment, but I agree with the SSPCA, if they can't afford to do the job completely, they shouldn't plant any of the trees. It is just rank stupidity.

Oh how awful, roe deer are beautiful as well but that's council's for you we had a load of wildies living on a roundabout this is back in Lancashire, they stayed on the roundabout as they had burrows which I'm sure took them under the road to the fields around. There were loads of them just grazing quietly every day and then one day a load of veg and fruit arrived and I thought 'how nice' someone is feeding them, few days later...............not one rabbit!!! Rumour has it that the council had them poisoned and I think it was something to do with the fruit and veg

They are planting a tree for every citizen of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire (I live in the shire) They can poke my tree up their ****s if it comes at the cost of culling the deer
There was a petition and it was signed by people from all over the world. Lots of Canadians signed it in particular.
That's probably exactly what happened! They did something similar here with a group of rabbits that lived on a roundabout near my OH's gran. They gassed the poor little things. Who were they bothering??? No one!!!Tuckerbunnies wrote:Thumper2001 wrote:Oh god!!! I would have been the same as you. That must have been so traumatic for you.
