Going to split them up
I've decided to split my two boys. Early today they started fighting for no good reason, and when I tried to put them together this evening they fought as if they wanted to kill each other.. They're even trying to fight through the walls of the pen.. I cant stand the thought of them being constantly angry, so I'll hopefully build another pen in another room..
I'm giving up.. I cant handle the thought of them fighting like this a time when noone's home...

Re: Going to split them up
We've found the same, we have two boys (father and son) who aren't great friends but tolerate each other. They're in a big group where they don't have to have too much to do with each other. But the other two boys have had to be removed from the group. One has been paired with his sister and is in a new hutch. Dougal is in with me and Rosie.
Don't feel bad about it - they'll be a lot happier and you'll be a lot less stressed.
Plus then you get to go out and find them a nice wifebun each

Re: Going to split them up
Haha.. XD Thanks! I wish I could.. but I cant afford 2 more rabbits.. the veterinarybills are HUGE and as you people know they come when you least expect it..
So you think it's the best, to split them up and move one of them to another room? I mean, I've tried since may.. but when they fight so much, fur's everywhere, I cant handle it...

Re: Going to split them up
Do they always fight or do they get on some of the time?
I know nothing about bonding, I'm just curious....

Re: Going to split them up
Im really sorry to hear the bonding of these guys hasnt worked. Sometimes it just doesn't I guess.
Its annoying that they just dont know whats best for them do they - little monsters.
Perhaps give them some time apart and try again when you have had some time, and they have had some time and the three of you are feeling refreshed.
If there is anything we can help with - please let us know.
Sending you hugs - you sound exhausted with it all x x

Re: Going to split them up
maybe that will work. I'm going to build a pen in the room next to the livingroom. Maybe I'll try to bond them again when I've made the livingroom rabbitproof.. Thanks so much for the support, I'm so happy you guys understand..

Re: Going to split them up
Awr, it's soooo sad.
I had two buns many years ago (Vodka & Coke... can you guess their colours??!!!?!?). They were brilliant to begin with but after a couple of months Vodka turned out to be a more dominant buck and would try to atatck Coke through the cage, it was so upsetting but sometimes it just happens.
I hope the seperation isn't too difficult. Remember, it doesn't mean you'll love them any less and they'll be a lot less stressed out!
Good luck! xx

Awww! Vodka and Coke! LOVE the names!

Re: Going to split them up
You'd have a heart attack if you knew how old I was when I named them rabbits!!
Oh well, at least you've given it a lot of thought and have made a difficult decision, but it shows that you care!
Keep posted about the move xx
