A Nightmare Before Christmas
You will find it hard to watch this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP7IRB1DRJU
This video is distressing, but it proves why the 'A Hutch is Not Enough' campaign is so essential. Rabbits live in conditions like this all over the UK and we want it to stop - NOW.
The owner of these rabbits keeps them in 2ftx2ft or 3ft x 2ft hutches and says that it is not cruel, and that 2 in a 3ft hutch is not over crowded - we disagree, how about you? She then says, 'if they were too small, they wouldnt sell them in the shops would they?' - well sadly, yes they would, and do, and that is why we are working with retailers to stop selling anything smaller than 4ft and to include 5 and 6 ft hutches in their ranges. The owner thinks her rabbits are 'happy and up to weight' but we don't think they look happy at all - they can take one hop at best in those hutches.
A hutch is not enough. All pet rabbits should be kept with the companionship of another (neutered) rabbit and live in an environment that allows them to display all of their natural behaviours, such as running, jumping, digging and foraging - and never locked in a hutch.

all those poor bunnies .... and that fact that the owner seems to think she's doing everything right, how could she think all of this is right.

Re: A Nightmare Before Christmas
Omg! Has the RSPCA seen this video? That's the kind of woman I wouldn't be able to talk to I would just end up smacking her! She keeps saying they are fed and watered and happy...how does she know if they are happy? Rabbits don't cry or whimper like cats and dogs do when they are sad and miserable! those conditions are about as bad as battery hens!
I hope those rabbits get rescued! I dread to think how much muscle wastage they will have! And probably have terrible spines, as they don't look like they even have enough room to lay out flat!
I hope the woman gets locked up!

Re: A Nightmare Before Christmas
I could only watch so much as it upset's me and makes me so angry that these people think that this is acceptable, I only hope the people responsible get a prison sentence and not a smack on the hand, it's time this country did something about animal abuse and started to make people pay for what they did instead of giving them a fine and banning them from keeping animals for a year

Re: A Nightmare Before Christmas
Due to this video and it's contents already having been addressed elsewhere on the forum see here, and for the reasons stated on that post I am locking this thread so as not to cause any harm to the investigations which are currently taking place regarding this situation.
