The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage for your pet bunny
I bought the book last week and have just had the chance to have a little read. I havent the concentration or energy to read it properly at the moment but ive just been trying some of the effleurage techniques on Dolly. I popped her on a cushion and she was digging it all, she made a hole actually but shhhh! By the end of it she was layed out lapping it all up She didnt dose off or anything but im glad she seemed to enjoy it.
I was rubbish at massage on people when i did it at college, so i struggled like hell to find the bits on such a little rabbit, which is why i stuck to the simple ones.

I have the book and the video on the Relaxed Rabbit and massage Baby Sain't little legs sometimes or her little body. Massage is quite good for bunnies especially disabled bunnies , our blind bunny Angel use to love a massage he would end up falling asleep and snoring

Im a little nervous to do it properly though, as theyre so tiny its hard for me to know whats what, so im not doing anything too technical until ive thoroughly read the book and had a prod, poke, pull adn feel of the buns to get used to what im supposed to be working on. Dolly certainly enjoyed it last night, anyway I think Marley will really enjoy it too, but we shall have to see about Skye!

It's odd - Bruce loves being stroked but he hates the massage and Flo? well she is offended at being touched!

Skye is like this. She will allow you to stroke her for a few seconds before she hops off in another direction kicking her heels up Im hoping she will come round eventually, but if not then never mind.

Re: The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage for your pet bunny
Flo doesn't even do that. Occasionally she will put her head down as if allowing a head rub but the moment you move your hand forward her head comes up and she gives you a look like 'you want to do what?!!! I don't think so!' and she has boxed my hand before if I try to follow through and actually stroke her. Flo generally thinks relaxation is over rated.

Dolly used to do that, but shes quite happy to sit on my lap now, as long as i stroke her. If i dont stroke her she'll dig and nip at my legs or whatever i have protecting my lap or shel jump down and sulk. She has boxed my face in the past, caught my forehead and chin with her claws! Dont ask what my face was doing at ground level

Re: The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage for your pet bunny
I'm interested in the book, must get a copy, thanks
Stewie loves his cuddles and strokes, and I can massage his head and ears, but that's about it. Would love to do more.
Bertie on the other hand....
I do miss him lots

Great video of a blissful Bertie, Jay
Our Rosie is like that - it took Humum a while to get used to the fact that Rosie likes nothing more than a full body massage, especially with fingertips getting right through the fur. It has to finish with all her fur being ruffled up the wrong way so she can have a good shake out and binky off in delight
Humum is lucky to get a stroke or noserub out of the others

Humum has never asked us to give her a stroke or a nose rub

Just go up to her and do it, it'll make her day!
I must look out for the book, I think Florence would enjoy it. As long as I don't go near her bum, she's got a complex about that area

Re: The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage for your pet bunny
I think I'm going to get that book too! Buttons loves a good fussing! I lay on the floor next to while stroking him and have fallen asleep a few times while doing it because he is so relaxed and cosy it makes me feel tired too!! I soon get woken by him licking my face if I stop though! Then once I'm awake he shoves his head under my head!! I'm nearly late for work most days because I can't tear myself away from him!!
Is the book easy to understand? I had read reviews that werent that keen on the book because it is really complicated, or hard to understand unless your a rabbit vet!!

Re: The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage for your pet bunny
I dont think its too hard to understand, having said that ive done a short course in sports massage so understand the techniques. The only thing im struggling with is applying them to such little animals!
Like i said before, i think im going to have to give it my full concentration to fully understand it, i dont think its something you can just read once and off you go. But if your bun likes it, its well worth it
