Neutering a boy bun
So today is baby sexing day and I'm thinking a million thoughts at once
I called Thumper's vet yesterday and asked them at what age they will neuter a boy bun and spay a girl bun.
They said 16 week for a girl, which I've heard before so I'm happy enough with that. I've no experience with boy buns. They've said 12 weeks, would y'all agree?
Thanks.

Re: Neutering a boy bun
Yeah, 12 weeks is about right for a boy. They can be done earlier, if plums have appeared sooner.
16 weeks for a girl is slightly contentious, but by no means wrong, but a lot of vets won't spey until 20 weeks. It's a big op on such a young body.

Re: Neutering a boy bun
My vet does girls at 16 weeks as long as they weigh 1kg. Florence was done at 16 or 17 weeks. I had a chat with Dougals rescue about it, and apparently its a new recommendation as its been proven younger bunnies recover better and more easily from it.
Hope bunny sexing day goes the way you want it to

Re: Neutering a boy bun
Thanks guys. I'm soooooo terrified I'm going to end up with babies with babies I think it might be better all round if I take two girls, if any. I'm not sure I can take the stress
I don't actually know! If I haven't heard from them by 3.30 I wil phone them, they close at 4 so surely they'll know by then!fall3n-ang3l wrote:are they going to phone you to let you know the sex of them?

Re: Neutering a boy bun
A simple wire panel can work to keep the sibling bond whilst stopping babies until the neutering is done.
