For the 5 horses that died at Cheltenham Festival 2012
1st day of Cheltenham Festival
ScotsIrish (broken hind leg)
Garde Champetre (broke down) all destroyed!
Educated Evans (fall badly injured)
'Animal Aid' said the ground was to firm and the race should have not gone ahead!
2nd day of Cheltenham Festival
Featherbed lane (broken leg)
Abergavenny ( broke elbow) both destroyed!
Somewhere...Somewhere in time's Own Space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

Gallop forever free Beautiful horses xxxxxxxxxx

So sad
Why this 'sport' is still allowed to go ahead when animals suffer as a direct result is beyond me.

Re: For the 5 horses that died at Cheltenham Festival 2012
Same with greyhound racing. I went to the dogs with some of my former colleagues and it was awful. One of the dogs fell and it looked quite badly hurt. I asked one of the staff to find out if the dog was ok and they looked at me like I was an idiot. I never did find out, but I suspect not

Horse racing makes me so mad!! I'm not even going to start with how I feel about it!!!
Sleep well pretty horses, I hope you are finally at peace.
If your owners don't care enough about you to meet you at the bridge, I'm sure our Maysie will.

I certainly would
According to Animal Aid's ''Racehorse Death Watch' ( which I follow) there has been 804 racehorse deaths in 1831 days.
I'm not going to put the link to the website but for those that wish to find out if this is true I warn you that on the website is a photo of a
racehorse with a very badly broken leg and it's quite upsetting, I always put my hand over the photo when I go on the site.

Someome wrote a letter to Theodore Roosevelt, the contents of which included a very lovely quote:
"Please Lord do not send me to a heaven where there are no horses." We all feel the same way about our babies too don't we.
