No improvement yet, Should there be?
I'm just a big fat worrier at the moment I hadn't really thought about whether or not Rhia should be getting better til Mr Vet man called me on Friday & asked if there had been any improvement, which there hasnt been. Since then I'm watching her every movement & willing her to be better overnight I dont think there has been any improvement, although Ive been working all day every day...Spent all evening with them though & shes still laying down waaay too much and lethargic etc. Her dosages of the dieuretics & penecillin start going down tonight, so should she be showing signs of getting better by now? She had better be all mended soon
P.s. Think I've posted about this before, but since she first got admitted she often has dry poo-stains in the weirdest places. Not where she or Dan could actually poop, Anyone have any idea what thats all about?

Re: No improvement yet, Should there be?
In my experience Buns respond quickly to the effects of a diuretic.
It may be that the fluid on her lungs is the result of a heart problem rather than infection. So even if the fluid has shifted she will remain lethargic.
The poo stains may be the result of Rhia being on Penicillin so I'd speak with the Vet about this. Questran can be given to Buns on Penicillin injections to try to minimise the risk of gut dysbiosis

If the symptoms are not due to a heart problem then they may be the result of lung damage caused by the fire she was in and also any subsequent infection

Poor Rhia, she has been through much. Does she have an appointment to see the heart specialist again?

Re: No improvement yet, Should there be?
I really hope this is something that can get better, She so deserves years of happy life. Jane the poo stains have been happening long before she started the penecillin; her toilets seem relitavely normal at the moment. Vanessa, She'll be going back to see the specialist in about two weeks for another scan - to see whether or not the meds are helping, and to try & get a proper look at her heart, to find out whether that is a problem (They couldn't see it properly on the last scan, because of the other stuff). I so, so hope not. I'm going to keep watch on her as much as I can today, to try and get an idea of whether she has improved at all. Pfft, Just been having cuddles with them; She has to get better X

Re: No improvement yet, Should there be?
Okay well I've been with them this morning & I think there definately is some improvement!! As I said before, I've only seen her properly in the evenings the last week or so, and that seems to be when she must slump. She is a different bun this morning to last night, she was just laying down sleeping last night whereas this morning she is doing brilliantly...Well, I'll upload some pix & vids now X

I am so pleased to hear Rhia is showing signs of improvement at last. As for the poo stains....is it possible she could be lying in them and they only really dhow up on her due to her coat colour?
