Does water in a bowl evaborate?
Ok I gave my two a water bowl on Sunday. They are now both using it and ignoring the bottle, so I've now got just plain water in the bottle and pro-c water in the bowl. I figured if they aren't drinking the bottle stuff, I'm not wasting pro-c in it ( )
But something is bugging me, the bowl holds about the same amount as what I put in the bottle, but it's disappearing faster. I had to refill it before work, and I have again now I'm home. Does water in a bowl evaborate? I know they aren't spilling it, although they can move it they haven't tipped it up (unless they are then putting it back the right way up) and I haven't seen them drinking a lot more than they were.
Any thoughts?! It's a standard brown ceramic rabbit bowl.

Mine drink out of a poultry drinker thingy, they won't touch bottles anymore.
I guess they're just drinking more because they LIKE drinking from a bowl rather than drinking from a bottle when they NEED to.

I wouldn't think it could evaporate that quickly.
Has Dougal been soaking it up with his ear again?
My two can drink a bowl dry twice in a day.

Maybe they are playing with it then. I wasn't expecting them to catch onto it so quickly to be honest, but they do seem to prefer it.
I'll leave the bottle up for now, but may take it away in a few weeks.

it may be that they can get more water from the bowl on each trip therefore drinking more. Yet you see it as the same amount counting their trips to the bowls not the amount they get out of it. I know buns find it frustrating to drink from the bottle, so they probable give up before they have drunk their fill

Paris used to get so frustrated when she had a bottle, she would drink then pull the end of it because she couldn't get enough out all at once

I think it the warmer the weather, the more it would evaporate. You could do an experiment, fill the buns bowl and another bowl from your kitchen with the same amount of water, place the second bowl out of reach but near the bun's bowl, and see which bowl of water goes down faster.

Oooh that's a good idea! I'll try that!
I'm thinking about removing the bottle now, it hasn't been touched for about three days!

Luna drinks more from the bowl than she ever has from the bottle...no idea why! Maybe they just find it easier and so can drink more now
