Water bottle or bowl
hi
just wondering what your buns prefer, mine love to drink from a bowl i have found they drink much more than they ever did when they had a bottle i think its harder work for them to use a bottle and water in a bowl is much more natural way to drink....
and their absolute favourite is a nice bowl of warm water in the evening they run to it and you can hear them lapping up the water then they have a good groom with there nice clean tongue
works with the hamster too he drinks lots from the bowl but hardly anything from the bottle ...
regards

Re: Water bottle or bowl
Most of our's have both, a bottle and a bowl as I like to make sure they have plenty of water at all times. Dental buns can't always drink properly from a water bottle as sometimes they find it to painful and so prefer a bowl of water and so at least with a water bottle and a bowl I know those starting with spurs or who have had dental op's will be able to drink ok.

Re: Water bottle or bowl
Bowls for all of them here. I think that bottles are an unnatural way for a rabbit to drink. They certainly drink more from a bowl, especially as Jag said when it is warm.

Re: Water bottle or bowl
i think that bottles were introduced to keep the water clean or being knocked over but quite frankly if that is the case the hutch is too small!!!
the size of some of the hutches i see being sold in pets shops are ridiculously small there should be a standard size 6ft long 2ft high at the very least..

Re: Water bottle or bowl
I would prefer to give them a bottle but M&J prefer a bowl. So they have a bowl
The water is kept cleaner in a bottle. My two are forever dragging stuff into their bowl. The hay cookie incident was the worst but it's nothing to do with the size of their pen, its 6ft x 3ft with a cage attached. They obviously just like puddling

Re: Water bottle or bowl
I have both, and typically my two chop and change between which they prefer!
They always used to love their bottle and ignored the bowl, then after Jeeves was ill they moved onto the bowl and completely ignored the bottle. Then, after Tigger was ill they completely ignored the bowl and are both back loving the bottle!
I feel so odd when everyone says 'my buns prefer a bowl' because I sit here and go, yeahhh my two prefer the bottle... honestly, they have a bowl, they just prefer the bottle.

Re: Water bottle or bowl
Bowl, they used to have a bottle, then both but as soon as they had the bowl they ignored the bottle.
However, one of them has worked out how to knock it over, goodness knows how as its really heavy! But I guess if a rabbit wants to do something it will they also put things in it, like fiba first sticks
They aren't as bad as the hamsters though, their bowl is full of sand and megazorb only minutes after changing it

Re: Water bottle or bowl
Nibbler much prefers his bowl but has occasionally knocked it over. I do get the odd poop in there, but I think that's because it's right next to his litter tray!

Re: Water bottle or bowl
me being a bit of a fusspot but i don't like the idea of drinking out of a plastic bottle i don't think it can be as refreshing as drinking from a ceramic bowl, when i first got my bunnies they came from a home which used bottles so i had to get a bottle to start with just in case so i got one of these glass ones
