New jab warning
Someone has just posted on FB to say that she booked in for the myxi jab. The vet prepared the new missed jab. It was only her sharp eyesight that prevented the jab from being given. When she questioned the vet she was made to feel stupid for not wanting the new jab despite the fact hers would have been the first to be vaccinated with it. So eyes sharp if you don't feel ready for the new jab and make sure when you book in that you are specific about wanting the single jabs.

That's shocking!!
The vets should be giving people the option and not just assuming everyone is ready for it. Particularly because it's not just a myxi vaccination and I assume that is what she asked for!!!

Re: New jab warning
Interestingly, I had the duo to the vets today for their myxi jabs and the vet mentioned that there was a new jab and it would be really great as it would only be once a year. He was amazed that I already knew about this and when I said that there was disquiet in the rabbit community about this vaccination, he was really concerned and asked me to update them about this. He didn't patronise me at all. In fact, I've been asked to join a focus group as the 'rabbit representative'.
I think that vets are probably getting the full sell from the vaccine company and unless they are curious about the vaccine, are probably taking it all at face value.

Re: New jab warning
Can I be silly and ask what this new jab is all about?
Mine have been done for maxi but need their VHD...or the other way round.
Intrigued!

Re: New jab warning
There was a confusion about it's efficacy and some buns don't have both normally for health reasons and it looks as if the company are withdrawing the single myxi jab.

Re: New jab warning
Our vet had a FB status about it the other day:
We are now stocking the new Nobivac Myxo-RHD vaccine - this is a once a year vaccination to protect against Myxomatosis & VHD - removing the necessity for 3 vaccinations a year. However, we are still keeping some Nobivac Myxo & Anivac VHD single vaccines for those who do not wish to move onto the new vaccination yet.
Any new vaccine has been tested many times by the drug company & there is a vast amount of information on the research & development, so our clients will not be 'the first guinea pigs'.
John will discuss the new vaccine with our bunny owners and answer any concerns you may have.
