Pet plan question
I've taken out a pet plan insurance policy for Molly and Junior, I'm still in the 14 day cooling off period so I'm mulling it over....
I have a question! If in the event I have to make a claim, do I need to have the purchase receipt for them from the SSPCA? Because I don't have it and if I need it to claim then I'd be as well just cancel the policy.
Thanks

Re: Pet plan question
No purchase receipt necessary.
All they need is to see all their past medical history so they can assess that it's a new condition. (On first claim, once they've got that for the first claim they won't ask again).
I have claimed on several rescue buns, Elijah was dumped at 8 months old so may have had medical history before that (though probably never saw a vet until he was dumped), they've never questioned any previous history prior to what I can show them.
I insured Erin (3 years old when I got her), I rehomed her direct from her previous owner and 3 weeks into the insurance being valid made a claim for stasis - they never questioned the first 3 years. Excellent, hassle free. I would highly recommend them.

Re: Pet plan question
Just be aware that the purchase price will not be refunded once they are so old - just check the terms and conditions.

Re: Pet plan question
That's ok, they were only £20 each so I'm not worried about that I think it'd feel a bit wrong getting my money back if the worst was to happen to either of them anyway
It was just if I needed it to make any claim at all.
Thanks

Re: Pet plan question
Trust me, it is an investment that you might be glad you have - although I hope you never have to claim on it.

Re: Pet plan question
Ok this is a really stupid question - does pet insurance price differ for where you live like car insurance does, or is it just a standard price depending on your pets details?
Now I'm single I'm going to insure my two, as it's not worth the risk now that I wouldn't have the money to do something, but I don't know whether to do them now or wait until I move.

Re: Pet plan question
I would get them insured now - where you live should not make a jot of difference.
As long as you don't put them on the car insurance

Re: Pet plan question
Just remember that Petplan have an escalating premium once you bun gets past 5 yrs which is when it becomes hard to get a new policy with another company. When you buns are approaching this age if they are claim free I would strongly advise shopping around again.

Re: Pet plan question
Pet Plan for my two is double what Pets at Home is. I think I'm going to get Florence microchipped and then get them both sorted (5% discount with Pets at Home).
Florence is already on the car insurance, she begged and begged so I had to give in

If you intend to insure don't hang about - do it straight away. I made this mistake with Barnaby. I wasn't supposed to be keeping him, 'just fostering' . When I decided to keep him I wanted to insure him but waited a few days til pay day when I could have done it on my credit card and paid it back on pay day. Barnaby had stasis 3 days before the insurance kicked in. If I'd insured him on the day I should have he would now be insured of gastro-intestinal. 7 weeks later he's at the vets again with another stasis episode ... one which I won't be able to claim for. Seeing as Esme's recent OOH admission with bellyache and a weeks treatment cost £550, I feel really sick at the thought of having another (now 3) not covered for gastro-intestinal.

Re: Pet plan question
Don't cancel it.
I had a 4 wks trial (when We got Lil's new husbun, after she lost Orly) and didn't renew it, I told them that I changed my mind and it was a lot of money.
The day after that she got head tilt and when she recoverd from that she had half her nose ripped off , when the vets was closed.
Hundred plus pounds later wished that I hadn't cancelled it.
Hence Ron is insured (typical tho, not had to use it for him yet )
