He is off his food again this morning. Vet thinks it is teeth again. He has had some metacam and some ranatidine and is going in for a dental tomorrow. The vet seems to think it has nothing to do with the marshmallow.

Well the meds have obviously kicked in - he is running around like a loony at the moment. And has eaten a little.

Don't worry about it too much Jo - Bruce is used to dentals. I am a bit concerned that it has only been a few months since the last one. However I laid some new turf recently. Well I say new, but it had been at the garden centre a while and was not looking too clever when I laid it but it was only £1 a roll so I thought it was worth the risk. As a result of the newly laid turf and also because of the wet weather he has not been out grazing as much as normal. However I have given the heads up that if we have a year of 3 monthly dentals I will be asking seriously about the root canal procedure that FHB has been working on. At 8 years old the idea of putting him through 4-5 GAs a year does not seem like a good plan.

Well I am taking them in now. Both are going partially because they almost fell out last time when Flo didn't go, and partially because we have had an outbreak of what I think are carpet beetles in their room so I am taking advantage of them not being there to indorex the room.

He is home and very chirpy. Marianne the vet said she has been having much better success in dentals by using a reversible GA that involves giving a light sedative followed by ketamine as a aesthetic. Luckily Bruce only needed the initial sedative so is pretty chirpy. It was the other side from the christmas dental. We discussed the idea of the root canal work and I made it clear that I am not asking for it now but I am saying it is on the back of my mind as a contingency. So she is going to look in to finding someone who might help.

Yes Katie, he is definitely 8 and looking very good for it I think. And apart from a little slowing down which glucosamine seems to have reversed he is doing really well.

Well I have worked out that the carpet beetles were actually flour beetles. I indorexed everything in the room before I went out to spend some time with my friends. When I came back there was a whole load of dead beetles under the stored food bags. I have tracked down the problem to a bag of selective mature food. I am going to email them and let them know. However the bag was out of date when I inspected it more closely. However it makes me wonder what would have happened if I had fed the buns it.

He might not be when he realises you got rid of his pet beetles though...

I have just looked them up and there is a link between flour beetle larvae and tapeworm in rabbits. I am now wondering whether I need to

a) throw out all their food
b)worm the buns

Have phoned the vets for advice.

Vets say throw all food and treat just in case.
