Visiting wild wild rabbit
I have a wild rabbit that at dusk (about 8:40pm ish) leaves his/her field, crosses the farm yard and comes and hangs out around the rabbit runs looking for mine. I think he/she must be a bit thick as with all the buzzards and owls and dogs and cats around it is a bit risky! It did make me think of the watership down rabbits going to free the domestic ones. Anyway, Saturday night i was a bit late with their bedtime and Juniper (my grey rex) was still out so they sniffed noses then ran around on the grass together for about 10 minutes (i stood v. still next to a wall) and he came about 3 foot from me, stared, did a load of thumping but then carried on. Anyone else have bold, visiting wild rabbits?

I used to have a wildie who appeared in the garden and used to drive Wolfgang mad (must have been another buck). Wolfie would gather Gloria up to stop her going over to speak to it!

Re: Visiting wild wild rabbit
We had a wildie at my mum and dad's when Thumper was still an outside bun. It was just a baby when it first appeared but it hung around for a long time!
It used to crawl under Thumper's hutch and steal any food that she dropped I always wanted to feed it but I knew it wouldn't be good for it so I just put a dish of water out for it instead
It just vanished one day, all grown up and off to take on the world

Sounds like he is seeking out bunny company. Perhaps he has been kicked out of his warren.

A lonely bunny! How sad. Perhaps he lost his hunnybunni. My son is a bunny whisperer and wild bunsjust come up to him. I think most buns are very good at knowing who their friends are!

Re: Visiting wild wild rabbit
We've had one in the garden today. Christopher was watching it. Dave and Sasha were over at the fence having a sniff and seemed really curious. It hung around for a little while then went off. We usually have a wildie in the garden in the Spring. I think that is when the first flush of youngsters get out and make a new life for themselves.
