Joey not eating UD - Poo update Mon PM
Joey hasn't come out for his tea tonight He doesn't seem to want to come out his hut unless forced out. I've offered him a selection of things, dried herbs, rosemary, cranberry tree, banana and he's not going for it. He looks a bit off colour. He's also keeps stretching his stomach down if that makes sense?
I'm guessing it's stomach related. So what do I do?
A. Take him to emergency vets
B. Syringe feed/water and vets tomorrow
Any help would be appreciated, thanks x

It sounds like he might have a touch of stasis coming on. You can try syringe feeding him some water and trying to get him to move about a bit. You can try very gently massaging him tummy too. If things don't improve then the vets are probably needed.
Hopping Mad, our e-magazine created a helpful flowchart to help you assess what the try first and when to get specialist help. Hoping this helps.

Re: Joey not eating UD - Poo update Mon PM
Thanks for the link. He does look in some discomfort which is obvious really. He moves if forced, but it's pretty obvious he just wants to sit alone. Gonna ring the vets for peace of mind as to what do.
No Thumper, Joey hasn't had this type of issue before. Barney did every other week.

Re: Joey not eating UD - Poo update Mon PM
Well we're back. The vet checked him over and the suspicion was right, it's a touch of ileus (stasis). She said he felt quite bloated What was a bit of a shock was he may have a couple of ulcers on his tongue from his teeth. Apparently they looked a bit sharp He's also been on Zithromax for a snuffle issue, which can surpress their appetite so she reckons it's a combination of the two.
He's had gut motility drugs and Metacam, and of course we have the dreaded syring feeding to do! He's back tomorrow to see his usual vet.
Thanks for the vibes, you're the best x

Re: Joey not eating UD - Poo update Mon PM
He's had his first lot of Critical care, and has managed a little nibble of his Cranberry and Dill tree so that's encouraging. He looks a little more comfortable than before too.
Definitely did the right thing taking him tonight.

No worries Maysie Since I last posted he has been nomming little bits and pieces - dried herbs, plantain, cranberry & dill tree, a bit of hay and nuggies. He's also had a bit of water from his bowl. He's moving around too, which is an improvemnt.
