RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
Ive just went out to find a rabbit in a recycling box on my doorstep!! It is on its way out gasping for its last breath!! its nose is all messed up the eyelids are inside out and festered with flea's I tried to give it some water but I think its struggling so much with breathin it couldnt take in water if it wanted to. It wont see the next few hours. This is the first time Ive dealt with myxi and now im going to have to bleach my house through before any of mine who hasnt been vac's come in!!
Im devastated for the poor mite!

Re: RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
Is it a wild bun or a pet bun?
Either way, I would phone the RSPCA and ask if they'll come out and end it's suffering.
I had to phone the SSPCA when one crawled into my old work.
How many of yours aren't vaccinated?

Re: RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
about 5, I called the rspca who told me to call a vet near me then they were closed to I called the rspca again and they said they will see if they can get someone to come out. I would of took it to the vets if it had been open.
Im not sure its grey but I dunno if you can get wild ones that are grey.

There are a lot of black/grey wild buns around North Yorkshire and this is the true colour seemingly I was told that all wild buns many years ago were black there is certainly a lot of black wildies round here.

Do you have the stomach to put it out of it's misery yourself if the vet is going to be a while? I know that sounds awful, but it sounds like it is suffering.

And a lot of the rspca centres aren't able to provide this service any more. Phone the vets. The emergency vet is duty bound to take the bun and end it's suffering. But how inconsiderate for someone to bring myxi to your door considering all your buns could have been infected.

How shockingly sad! I'm sure the person that left it there had no idea the disease was so contagious. They probably brought it to you because you are a kindly person and know about rabbits. for you.

Did you take the bun to the vets?
The poor thing must be in terrible pain.
Im assuming people bring you the buns because they think that you are able to deal with these problems?

Sounds harsh but I agree if you can end its suffering yourself quickly then I would.

Re: RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
Yeah well you know i take in all waifs and strays lol. When i saw it i knew straight away what it was even though ive never actually seen it before. I says to mick do u think i should just wring its neck and put it out. He refused! Mick is terrified of death where im more frightened of the sufferimg part. The RSPCA rang and said they would be out at 9am today which he was he confirmed it was a domestic rabbit which looked like it had been mixed with wildies. It was tame enough to be held so it had been looked after by humans but he said he will be pts as it was on its way out
Re: RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
I applaud you for seeing to it that this little one will no longer be suffering and on it's way to the Bridge quickly. Heart wrenching.

aw I know s/he was a bonny little thing also. I could of cried when I seen its eyes and nose. Makes me furious that that myxi stuff is still allowed to be put down!
Re: RABBIT WITH MYXI ON MY DOOR STEP!!
