How can we stop myxi

I was out this morning taking my daughter to the swings at 5am as Ive been up all night being ill due to this pregnancy, when we seen loads of wildies and I mean loads! there was about 50 just on this field!

So we cuts through the trees to go to the swings and we saw this baby bunny about 5 months old we were about 6 feet away from it, I was pointing showing our flo and it just looked a bit confused was stumbling about and didnt bother to run off even with the dog running by. So we got a little closer and literally we were about a foot away before it heard us then stumbled into a hole. At this time I saw all its nose was messed up as with its eyes. It obviously had mixy! Im so mad as it is a wildlife area round here and most of the fields are not used so I cant understand why people would put the stuff down. Is there anything we could do to maybe dilute it or wipe it out. I loved seeing those little buns this mornin but it kills me to see some in distress!

Make sure you disinfect underneath your shoes

It s a horrid thing to see and not surprising is it that it is man made?!!!!

As Maysie says all you can do is disinfect your shoes when you come home and vaccinate your buns. Remember that the wild population are becoming more Myxi resistant and this little one may well recover. It is thought that the majority of adult wild rabbits have had myxi and recovered.

You should make sure all your buns have their boosters up to date too seeing as it's in the area. You don't want to be taking any chances.

The swings at 5am My kids would love you My DH saw a wild bun with myxi on his postal delievry in the rurals, he said it was all confused and messed up looking. Luckily he didn't try and catch it and bring it home.

So is there nothing we can put back on to the earth to weaken it???
Its horrible to see and you know what wildies are like they scarper if they see you from 100 feet and to think I got about 2 foot away from it is quite worrying, there is alot of working dogs round here and would hate a needless kill!

So what kind of disinfectant do you recommend? a tray of bleach left by the door??

Thanks guys Im not sure how far I am think about 2 months maybe 3 im either to ill to travel in the car (that kicks off the sickness) or im recovering from being ill to go to the midwives Im hoping that it will subside soon so I can go out looking for a new floor
