Advice on looking after a Bun with Myxi Empty Advice on looking after a Bun with Myxi

Post by KatieB Mon Dec 17, 2012 2:42 pm

Is there something that I should be doing.

We have brought a heater for the shed today (im worried about bringing her in because of Daisy), is there a treatment that she should be on. Is there anything specific I should be doing for her?

All the help and advice there is would be great.

Thanks

Katie

Oh Katie I am so sorry Annie has myxi Sad I really didn't think it was going to be myxi, I just can't believe it. She is a little fighter though, she isn't ready to leave you yet. Hugs

I have never dealt with myxi so I can't offer any advice but I just want to send you a huge hug. xx

Katie, theres a network of people on Facebook that offer advice and support to other people whos bunnies also have or have had myxi. Ill see if i can find it again and add you to it now. If you get a friend request from a random stranger, it might just be so that they can add you.

In very mild cases, supportive therapy or intensive care may be given in addition to antibiotics to prevent or treat secondary infections. Vaccinated rabbits are more likely to survive if they have contracted the myxoma virus. In cases of infection affecting the vaccinated rabbit’s health then fluids are replaced, antibiotics are given to prevent possible secondary infections, feeding is sometimes administered through a tube and keeping it in a warm area will all be a part of the treatment plan.

I don't have experience of this, but keep her warm and cosy with lots of love and cuddles, stuff you're already doing. If she still had an appetite then that must be a good sign.

Lots and lots of vibes for her Hugs
