just pondering......
I have seen two ermine rexes in my local garden centre. They are simply beautiful If I were to go there and see just one left the temptation to buy her would be great
There is no way Vince and his girls would accept another bun into their home, but I'm not sure about the rexes. They are quite an easy going bunch.
I think I know the answer to the question already but need to hear someonelse say it, so here goes...
What are the chances of my neutered trio accepting an uneutered young doe into their fold? I would neuter her asap, but wouldn't want to go to the expense of doing so unless she was staying for good.
I shouldn't be thinking of this, but they are just so beautiful, and I love my rexes

Re: just pondering......
I think if its not broken don't try and fix it, if you tried to bond them and the bond broke through and they ended up as pairs would you be happy with that, and would you be able to cope?
Thats one of my reasons for not keeping Benji, I love him, and I would love to keep him but if the bond broke down and I ended up having two pairs it would be much harder than looking after a trio.
The chances are they would accept her first of all, but as she gets older her personality would change and she would likely be hormonal before you could neuter her, and that could cause problems, she would need to be away from the group while she recovered and then there is no saying they would accept her back - and you would have had a few months to get attached and see them as a group and I think it would be very hard.
If you think its something you want to do, and okay with every outcome then do what you think is best, but Im sensing you want some opinions!
xx

Re: just pondering......
I think that you should avoid the garden centre
If another bun turns up who really needs you, as Boo did, wouldn't you rather be able to say yes to that one rather than paying money to a retailer for a bun of unknown origin and breeding, when you know the retailer is just going to replace it with another bunny...?

This won't help you VTB but just wanted to add something.
Florence is a garden centre bunny, and she is the loveliest, sweetest, friendliest bunny I have ever owned. She's the only bunny I've ever had that honks at me and grooms me. She is clever, bolshy and confident. Whenever I take her anywhere (ie the rescue and boarding) I get comments about how confident she is.
Not all garden centre buns are sickly and badly bred. Where I got Florence from gave advice, questions potential owners, takes details, and doesn't let them go until they are 9 weeks so they have a week there to monitor them before they go to homes. They also have an easi-pet clinic there a couple of times a week, for jabs etc.
Its not fair to write off a bunny just because its from a garden centre. I don't regret getting Florence in the slightest, maybe I should I don't know. Or maybe I'm just feeling oversensitive after a rubbish few days.
