Re: mowgli's eye - update 19/08/08
It could be a catarract, depending on where, exactly, on the eye it is.
Could your Dad possibly take Rosie to the Vet tomorrow ?
I know you have a lot to cope with at the moment and so hopefully your Dad can help out

Re: mowgli's eye - update 19/08/08
mowgli's back home, she did a few tests and things, unsure what it could be as he has abit of whiteness in both eyes but it more prominant in his right eye, she said its not cateracts, their is no scratches in it so rosie hasnt done anything to him, she given him some antibiotics as she thinks it may be an infection as the right eye is little red on top
got to put the antiobiotic 2 drops in each eye everyday, they are due myxi vaccinations on tuesday so he'll have tham checked again
if it gets worse he'll have to go to see a specialist so hoping it doesnt,

Well hopefully the drops will help. I would ask your Vet if it would be a good idea to postpone the Myxi vaccination until Rosie's eye is better.

Re: mowgli's eye - update 19/08/08
mowgli is being refererred to a eye specialist vet as its not clearing, they cant see to back of his cloudy eye but he can still see from it as his pupil responds too, and his left eye is not so perfect from the cloudness now too

Poor Mowgli.
As an optician, can I ask if your vet said if the cloudiness was on the cornea (the front of the eye) or the lens (inside the eye)?

Re: mowgli's eye - update 19/08/08
Lisa are you treating Rosie and Mowgli with Panacur/Lapizole?
EC can effect the lens of the eye causing cataracts and uveitis. Mowgli's eye problems may not be EC related, but it might be a good idea to cover all bases so to speak.
Please keep us updated about him

Re: mowgli's eye - update 19/08/08
If the cloudiness is on the front of the eye then this wouldn't be a cataract - tho I guess a lot of vets (and GP's) would describe a cataract as being on the front of the eye.
A clouding of the cornea can be caused by several problems in a human, I am not really well clued up on bunny eye problems but the most obvious causes such as uveitis, ulcers and glaucoma would be associated with pain/discomfort which I think would be obvious. Sometimes chronic dry eyes can cause cloudiness, I have heard of this occurring in dogs.
I hope Mowgli can get a quick appointment with an eye specialist to try to get an understanding of the cause.
