shaking of ears Empty shaking of ears

Post by Vince the bunny Mon Jul 30, 2012 7:32 pm

When I put Tilly down in her run/cage, after cuddles, she flaps her ears quite violently. Why is this? Vince flaps his ears in excitement, but I don't think Tilly is excited, it is different somehow. She doesn't do it at any other time (other briefly before a binky) so it can't be an ear infection. I'm a bit puzzled by it Hmmm

Just her ears, or does it turn into a whole body shake?

Humum thinks that we might do that at times, and that it's to shake the smell of human off Wink

Shocked oh!

It's just her ears, like she has a flea in them. She loves being picked up and cuddled though and snuggles into you tooth purring.

Ear shaking can be a expression of annoyance. Flo sometimes shakes hers when heading out into the garden in joy, but she shakes them when she is annoyed as well and somehow, but in a way I cannot put into words, to 2 types are quite different. I think it is a bit like a buck stamp of disapproval.

Isn't it funny how we can associate a reason behind a buns behaviour, but sometimes that same behaviour can mean the complete opposite!

When Gavin and Stacey were here I noticed that when I gave Stacey a spring green leaf she would run off and do a victory lap but at the same time flick her heels. I normally associate heel flicking with annoyance or wet feet but Stacey seemed to do it with triumph! Laughing

She could have been! Either way she was very pleased with herself.

Thumper used to do it after I'd been rubbing her ears.

Molly and Junior do it a lot. When they wake up, when one of them jumps over the other, and sometimes for no rhyme nor reason.

I've never considered it a concern Smile

Thumper will shake his head 'no' and flick his ears when he means 'no, i don't want that' or 'no way!'

Could it be she is just getting the 'kinks' out? After I rub Thumper's ears he sometimes shakes them as to re-deploy them. He's got big ears.

Fiver flicks his ears and his feet after I pick him up. It's as if to say "I'm shaking you off me"
