Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
What is it, and is it worth me getting some for Hector?
Also if you've ever ordered from bunny bazaar before how long did your package take to arrive?

Re: Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
Bunny bazaar are quite new under the present ownership - they have been taken over by the RWAF. I have ordered from the RWAF shop before and it took a few days for stuff to come. You can buy Pro C from many pet shops including PAH.

Yes, I'll likely get it from pets at home, but I just wanted to know exactly what the benefits were!
I've ordered some other bits from the rwaf website and I didn't know whether to worry yet. If it's not here by the end of the week I'll send them an email, thanks cheryl.

Re: Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
Pro-C is a probiotic that can help restore the balance of gut flora in a bun - a bit like the Actimel type yoghurt drinks for humans. You'd normally only use Pro-C if the bun is either on antibiotics or showing signs of an upset tum.
It can't hurt to have some in case you do need it (make sure you get one with a long date on - a year or more is normal) but I would not be inclined to give it to him as a matter of course - better to monitor his poops and ensure that his gut flora is developing in the way it should

Re: Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
Pro C is a probiotic. It supports the rabbits digestive system in times of stress. If a rabbit is at all upset it is likely to show in their digestive system. A bout of bloat or stasis can be fatal scarily quickly. Pro C is not a guarantee but it does help. The hay experts do several different types. Avipro is a higher strength version of Pro C made my the same company. Bio Lapis comes in small sachets and is the one you are most likely to be given by your vet when you bun is ill. Protexin is another one often used by vets and Pro-fibre is a pellet form that you add in to other pellet food.

Re: Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
The good thing about buying from Bunny Bazaar is that it is owned by RWAF who can put the profits into bun welfare :-) although not the cheapest I do always feel good about buying from them.
You can also get Pro c through the hay experts. :-)

Re: Pro C? (and bunny bazaar question)
I had a few problems with the old RWAF shop, things came in dribs and drabs and some things were missing, but it was all quickly resolved.
As everyone has said, Pro-C is a probiotic and the bunny equivalent to actimel/yacult. I have some in, but i prefer protexin/bio lapis when bunnies have a real upset tum or on treatment that could potentially upset the gut flora. Like antibiotics/medication etc. On the back of the tub it says you may give them it at times of increased stress too. You might want to add some to Hectors water for the first week or two as he will have left his litter and be in a new environment, which is stressful for any bun. Im sure he will be fine though
