building a new piggie hutch UD photos!
I decided to build my pigs a new hutch to sit inside the avairy. It is 4ft by 2ft and currently over 2 levels. I have finished the top level so the pigs are in there tonight as I had to demolish their old hutch to scab bits of it. My hutch building skills are starting to improve and I am pleased with how this one is turning out. I was going to add a balcony but think I will do that at a later date as I need to rebuild my trio some new nest boxes as I will need to remove their hutch to fit the piggie hutch in. Alongside this project I have been building a run to attach to a 4ft hutch I have pimped for a local rescue. Was supposed to be getting lots of mesh but it turns out it is chicken wire It takes so long to build a hutch, the back and sides and the floors went in easy but it's all the extras that seem to take time, plus I painted it. I took some photos on my phone but it seems it is no longer uploading to photobucket for some reason I will post some piccys tomorrow. I'm feeling all ;hutched out; at the moment Just over a week till the kids are back to school then it will be back to the animal portraits. My poor hands are full of splinters and my arms have been snarled up with mesh and chicken wire, DH complained that my hands are rougher than his lol

Hudad says there is one important question yet to be asked.
"What brand are your power tools?"

Power tools are for pansies! I use screwdrivers and a handsaw. Hardcore me I've a right arm like popeye now and hands like a docker
A staple gun would be good for fixing mesh to the wood for the runs. I discovered drywall screws go into the wood a lot easier without splitting it, and making a hole first with my 'stabber' helps a lot. A workshop would be great though as I always have the kids running around me and have to be meticulous abut tidying after myself incase the kids or the buns get caught on anything. Sometimes you have to manage with what you have an just get on with it. A ratchet screwdriver and sharp saw would be good though
