Poor Bruce! (& Flo) u/d 5.9.12
We have been to see the vet today. Bruce and Flo were scheduled to have their VHD injection and to have check ups for Flo's feet/eyes and Bruce's spots. Flo got the go ahead for her injection but has to continue with the gel for her feet. Also the vet is not concerned with her eyes as we know she has been stressed.
Bruce on the other hand has not had his injection. The vet had a look at his spots which aren't looking as red but otherwise look just the same. She got out a injection needle and gave the biggest one a poke to get out the pus. She says that the pus is hard and this is consistent with Pasturella. So Bruce is now on septrin instead of baytril. This is good news all round as it tastes good so he has taken it off a shredded wheat and I will not suffer any more bitten fingers. He has also been dribbling and it has been confirmed that he needs a dentaol again. So he is going in on tuesday for that and the vet will see if she can squeeze some more of the pus out whilst he is under. And he still has the prospect of having the VHD vac on the horizon.

Aww poor Bruce, what a lot of work he has in front of him. At least if they know what the problem is they can make sure he is getting the correct treatment.

Re: Poor Bruce! (& Flo) u/d 5.9.12
Thank you Maysie - although Bruce still looks as if he is 100%. He hides his dribbling under his sideburns and he is only snotty only very occasionally. The pasturella is really only showing itself around his genitals and it does not seem to bother him. My vet is going to the RWAF conference this weekend and has gone armed with questions to ask - not least about the drilling out of molars to stop the need for constant dentals. I have had my suspicions about the pasturella for quite a while as he gets very occasionally snotty and then it disappears as quickly as it arrived. So I think he has been through several anaesthetics whilst he has had the condition so I am hoping that spotty genitals will not raise his risk.

He is fine Jo. Taking his septrin no probs at all. Binkied round the garden like a loon this morning. The sports are still there but I do not think they are any worse, maybe a little better. Or that might just be wishful thinking. Still dribbling. But very chipper.

Re: Poor Bruce! (& Flo) u/d 5.9.12
Vibes please. Both buns are having sedatives as the vet thinks it might be an idea to xray Flo and check for any underlying causes that maybe making her more inactive and therefore cause her feet problems. And I thought Bruce was sounding a little snotty this morning as well. So lots of hopper vibes for a safe return please.
